What really happened

On Saturday, I commented about the by now trite and hackneyed "Hamas vows revenge" line in a headline reporting the story of the family killed during a picnic. The revenge bit arose because Hamas alleged that the deaths resulted from a wayward Israeli offensive. It turns out that Hamas killed its own people. I wonder who will be vowing revenge now.

UPDATE: The invaluable American Thinker has more. First, there's a letter from a reader, familiar with artillery, pointing out that the pictures of the beach were the family died are entirely inconsistent with the 155 mm artillery shells that Israel uses. Next, there's an update with a news story indicating that it was probably one of the Palestinian's own land mines that took out that whole family. It is a great reminder that our credulous MSM is nothing but a useful tool for the continuous flow of anti-American and anti-Israeli propaganda that comes in an endless stream out of the Middle East.

UPDATE II:  The equally invaluable Captain also comments on the erroneous initial reporting, the fact that Israel does not target civilians, and the unstoppable "Israel is evil" meme that's just been reignited because of the gullible media. (And that's the nicest thing I can say about media reporting in this regard.  Collaborators is another word that springs to mind, if one acquits some or all of those reporters of benign or naive intent.)
