Al-Reuters outdoes itself

We've now got a new Reuters entry in the most biased, dishonest, inflammatory reporting category, which is impressive given how short the article is. Here's the online versionof the article, with my comments:

Israeli missile strike in Gaza kills 9: doctor [The headline is clear, isn't it? The Israelis killed a doctor! Read the article, though. No doctors were actually killed in the making of this story.]

An Israeli missile strike on a vehicle carrying a Palestinian rocket-launching squad in Gaza on Tuesday killed at least nine people, including two children, witnesses and medics said. [Note that Al-Reuters doesn't ask about or comment upon the fact that two children were in the vicinity of a rocket-launching squad. Shouldn't someone care whether the rocket-launching squad was hiding amongst civilians?]

It was one of the deadliest strikes from the air in years and came amid a surge of rocket fire from militants in Gaza following the killing of seven Palestinians, including three children, on a day of Israeli artillery shelling on Friday. [Talk about artful writing. The clear subtext is that the Israeli artillery shelling killed those seven Palestinians, including three children. There's no mention at all of the fact that fairly indisputable photographs and satellite images demonstrate that the Palestinians, including those three children, died when Hamas' own weapons exploded under them.]

"There was an attack on a car that was heading to fire rockets Israel," an army spokeswoman said in Tel Aviv. [We finally get a straightforward fact, which is conveniently buried near the bottom of the article. Indeed, it is only in this last third of the report that we get a few hard facts, such as presence of rockets on the targeted vehicle, and the identify of the vehicle's owner — an Islamic Jihad group. In other words, Israel made a stunningly accurate strike against enemy armaments.]

Witnesses said they saw rockets in the wreckage of a yellow van hit in the strike east of Gaza City and that there were at least 10 casualties.

Medics said nine people were killed, two of them children.

Local residents said the men in the vehicle belonged to the Islamic Jihad group.
