Big hair, short skirts, and music, music, music

Do you remember the music of the 1980s? I listened to it obsessively right up until 1987, when a switch turned off in my brain and I tuned off music and onto news. Music from that era, though, triggers a gazillion memories in my brain (mostly pretty good ones, fortunately), so I always enjoy hearing it. That's why I'm grateful to Gail for turning me on to a website that has over 1,400 music videos from the 1980s. Wow! Did we really wear those clothes? That raccoon eye make-up? The big hair? Makes me feel old….

I don’t know why I like some music and not others. I can just hear and I like. I do not like a genre, I do not like a particular song independent of the singer. Is as if there is a unique melody, beat, and rhythmn that I prefer above all else, and music that does not have it, I do not like hearing. You might say that I prefer musicality over technique, although that might be going a little bit too far.
two words: shoulder pads!
Ha ha! I’m a teenager again! Since I was unable to attain truly big hair and remain fashion challenged, I have only fond memories of the 80′s. Thanks for the smiles this evening.
LOL! Great site
. But you should have seen us in the mid sixties, with our bangs covering our eyes… which were decked out with Cleopatra liner and bright shadow
. Mini dresses in livid colors, bell bottoms, body paint… it gives me a headache to think about the colors we loved! LOL!
Like Mamapajamas, I was a child of the 60s — but it was **80s** rock, & my daughter’s enjoyment of it, which caused me to hear it & fall in love. Most 80s music was very upbeat & energetic & much more innocent than today’s stuff. With a BA in Classical Music, maybe I “shouldn’t” have gone goo-goo for ANY of it — but when the 80s rolled around, who could resist the sounds of U2, Van Halen, Prince, Hall & Oats, INXS, Bobby Brown, Heart, the Bee Gees, Pat Benetar, Cyndi Lauper, The Police, The Pointer Sisters, EVEN Michael Jackson, BEFORE he went wack-o? On days I have a lot of housework to do, I almost always tune-in to the 80s Rock Channel on cable — because it gives me so much energy!
Thanks for sharing this site. What fun to see all those old videos again;I plan on re-visiting often.
