A lovely tribute! You did a great job honouring Lauren.

I honoured three men from the Toronto area (I live in Toronto).

Just wonderful.....makes me cry. Which is somewhat problematic here at work when a student can drop in at any time.

But, it's the right response, no? What a tragedy -- how badly do I want to get rid of the scum who would cheerfully do this to more of us, believing all the time that they are serving G-d by murdering people!

Stay strong, America.....and do the right thing! For Lauren, for Lt. Ahearn, and for all of them.

BW - Your intelligence and the sweetness of your personality come through on your blog even when your posts are about matters that dismay and disgust you.

You are a very talented writer and perhaps someday soon the BW will signify Book Writer as well as a Book Worm.

I'll look forward to purchasing your first book be it fact or fiction.

Bookworm,

This is why I had no problems with requesting the name of someone I knew. Personal knowledge of the victim adds a new facet to the person's life story, rather than a rehashing/summation of what one is able to find already out there on the 'net.

Your shock at seeing her picture in the newspaper is similar to my finding out about someone I knew a few days later, watching the news.

Lauren had been back to New Jersey for her grandmother’s funeral and was flying home again. She was two months pregnant.

How heartbreaking is that? I am so glad you wrote a tribute about Lauren Catuzzi (did you take it upon yourself or is this "official"?). It was beautifully written.

I remember her voice and the scene from Flight 93. There's nothing much I can say. Only that if I was in your place, I would have found it difficult writing about someone I knew, who perhaps I respected and regreted not coming to know better. Emotions are hard to figure out when they come with friends. Tinges of anger, regret, pride, joy, remembrance, these feelings all coming at once is hard to deal with.

Thank you for this moving tribute. This personal angle helps us to see what kind of woman Lauren was.
