The scandal behind the Foley story

Curt, at Flopping Aces, has been following the story behind the Foley story: while his unbecoming conduct probably took place, it’s becoming ever more clear that the resulting scandal was very carefully orchestrated. That is, this was not the spontaneous revelation of information that abruptly came to light. Instead, it is apparent that the set-up and timing are not coincidental but, instead, are meant to arrive with maximum impact for the upcoming elections. In this regard, the story stinks almost as badly as the carefully timed Memogate story and the stolen WMD story (not that there

[By the way, because of a LGF mention, the Flopping Aces server crashed. Curt has given me an alternative page he set up that you can visit to get relevant information for the time being.]

    Congress sees through party-colored glasses

WASHINGTON — For more than a week, members of Congress said they would avoid partisan politics when they got Kenneth Starr’s report on President Clinton. But when they finally saw it Friday, they split along party lines.

“It’s vile,” said Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach. “It’s more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction.”. . . “That was just sad,” Foley said. “It’s unbelievable that he could behave so carelessly in that setting.”

Talk about your own words coming back to haunt you! It’s sad that both men gave in to their squalid sexual addictions and that both resigned from office as a result … oh wait a moment, never mind …

Yes, T.S., but consider how Foley would have reacted had he been Clinton.

He would right now have a team of operatives (a “kiddie eruption room”) investigating every detail of the kid’s life, the lives of his family, the lives of his schoolmates, the lives of his relatives and friends; looking for something with which to smear and destroy the kid.

Foley wrote some inappropriate and fairly disgusting e-mails, I have seen zero evidence that he ever actually did anything to the kid. And he reacted, quite properly, by instantly resigning.

Clinton did it. And when caught, reacted by trying to destroy everyone who stepped forward as an accuser. Check with Juanita Broaderick, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, etc., etc., etc. The concept of honorable resignation never entered his head.

I haven’t heard anything from Foley about what happens when you drag a $100 bill through a roomful of pages.

There is a bit of a difference there.

Rationality escapes me at the moment.

When it’s the soul that counts, it doth not help to protest too much about what you do after the sin. It’s the sin that matters after all. Once stained, it may not be removed, by any action other than the self-cleansing moral high ground.

Anyone that is upon such a high ground, may attest to the innocence or guilt of a person, regardless of any personal redemptions pursued through personal action.

Foley had no leg to stand on. He had no allies in the Republican party nor the Democrat party. Clinton, at least had the backing of his wife and his political party, he at least tried. Tried and failed, but at least he tried.

    ***Non-PC alert***

Is it me, or does it seem that when the news reports sexual indiscretions of an adult male with a minor, it is homosexual in a greater percentage of the cases than the supposed percentage of homosexuals in the general population? I mean, even taking the discredited Kinsey report overestimation of 10% of the population, only 1 in 10 of these cases should be of a homosexual nature. This is by no means scientific but empirically derived (and the PC police go to extreme lengths to thwart any research on this although I have yet to hear of the heterosexual equivalent to NAMBLA.) And yet, the PC continue to denigrate the Boy Scouts over their policy of discharging homosexual scoutmasters.

    Tis true.

Although Foley has decided to enter into a drug and alcohol treatment facility, which we all know works really well for pedophelia.(insert dramatic eyeroll here)

It’s Greek to me! Today’s North American Man-Boy Love Assocation aside, this is an age-old occurance. Hell, many of Shakepeare’s sonnets were believed to have been written to a “fair young man” and Oscar Wilde, author of the morality-laden “Dorian Gray,” was just wild about the boys.

Closeted homosexuals seem to have the hardest time of all, however.

Question: Can you be openly gay and be elected as a Republican in the south?
