When the alternative is really bad
Republicans have been big spenders. They’ve been weak on social security issues and immigration. They’re disorganized. They’re beset by scandals. We should definitely throw the bums out — except that doing so may end up with our cutting off our noses to spite our faces. Quin Hillyer argues convincingly that, while that Republicans may be mad, bad and dangerous to vote for, the Democrats are much, much worse. Frying pans are bad; fires can be worse.
