Because grammar matters

Although you wouldn’t guess it from the typos peppering my posts, I do care about grammar.  Apparently some corporations should also start caring about grammar.  In Canada, the spin a sentence received from a comma cost $888,000 to a party to a commercial dispute.

To toot my horn, I’ve helped win a couple of cases by carefully parsing either turgid statutory language or obscure contractual clauses.   It’s amazing what you can discover when you take the time to tease out someone’s meaning.
