It made news when Yale admitted to an almost 10% drop in applications for membership in the 2011 graduating class. Yale come up with some reasons, such as the fact that people might not be applying because the law admissions rate means it’s not worth the effort. Others posited that Yale’s embrace of Taliban man might have turned off some potential applicants. As for me, I wonder whether parents might be heading their kids in directions other than Yale because they’re uncomfortable that Yale is a school where the administration’s response to activities akin to public orgies is strong than just a blush and an embarrassed plea for restraint.
