Back to blogging

It was a very, very busy weekend.  With the exception of a minute to check my email and comments, I never made it near the computer.  That didn’t stop me from thinking, though, and as soon as I’m done with this service call, I’ll start blogging in dead earnest.

If you’re wondering about the service call, Mr. Bookworm fulfilled his dream of buying a big screen TV (63 inches).  After spending 6 hours fusing with a billion wires and cables, he still couldn’t get it to work.  Hence, the service call.  I will say, though, that Costco has been very accommodating.  They connected us with the manufacturer and, when that didn’t work, they offered to schedule a free home visit.  It’s that visit that has me on the phone, on hold, waiting for someone to come up with some appointment times.

As I wait, I’ll read, and when I read, I blog.  Something of substance, if not of interest, should crop up here eventually.

    Plasma HDTV?

Not a plasma. The preceding generation. We’re waiting ’til plasma prices drop, as we assume they will.

How much power does it use and did you buy your offsets from ALGOR?

LOL, Oldflyer. I can’t tell you how much power it uses, but I can tell you that it weighs half what our old TV weighed, despite being twice as large! I’m still nursing the back and hip pain that I instantly developed as Mr. Bookworm and I wrestled the old TV off its stand and into the garage for holding. He had a grandiose plan of bringing the old set upstairs for kids videos, but I nixed that, on the ground that he had a choice between a functional wife, or a permanently damaged wife!

Technology is great. But those power requirements, man… like the Iraqis know right now, power requirements Bite.

If she bought her offsets from Gore, she might have had enough money from the fund to buy that tv right out.
