		<description>I don't know how old the little Bookworms are, but I was struck (rather unpleasantly) by how strongly the nurse-midwifes we had attending our two deliveries urged us _not_ to have our children circumcised.  They came very close to calling it child abuse.  I got the impression this was the backlash to the old custom of mandatory circumcision in American hospitals, but the antisemitic element wasn't far below the surface.

I expect nowadays they aren't so vociferous, since that might leave them open to a charge of "Islamophobia"...</description>
