Actually Israel already offered compensation and it was refused. It takes two to make peace but only one to make war.

Jack, Lulu: I think the planet is Uranus ;-)

The interesting thing is that Lerner some 15 years ago authored a thin volume entitled: "The socialism of fools: antisemitism on the Left". Being on the left myself at the time (although clearly starboard of Lerner ;-)) I read it with great attention, and it actually made some good points. I couldn't stomach any of his other writings.

At times, I don't know whether to hate or pity people like Lerner. Is he a malignant narcissist seeking attention by his "far out" behavior, or somebody who keeps hoping against hopes that you can be a looney-leftist and a committed Jew at the same time. It took 9/11 and the Euro-left anti-Israel wolfpack in early 2002 for me to answer the question in the negative, and to reach for the "Eject" button. It's not easy to face that you have been believing a lie for 20 years: I'd rank it as one of the two most painful experiences in my life. Some people just cannot face such a thing, and continue to live in denial.

FWIW, Lerner, a few years ago, learned an inconvenient truth about many of his fellow travelers. Unfortunately he hasn't really internalized the lesson, has he?

Danny, I see that scenario evolving in individual lives repeatedly. Be true to God and yourself, and ye will be saved.

He lives on the planet of ethical and moral confusedness, shallow spirituality, politically correct looney indoctrination and misinformation, and just plain Bay Area nuttiness. Unfortunately, he confuses that with a genuine ethical and spiritual faith called Judaism.

Maybe Sheehan can offer her own atonement, preferably with a bad case of cholera. Ok, not nice but I can't stomach the woman.

Lerner just refuses to deal with anything close to reality. Sometimes I wonder what planet he lives on.

The Old Testament (Torah) is full of stories that warn against what happens to people like Lerner and the members of Beyt Tikkun et al, when they turn their back on God and He turns his back on them. It ain't pretty. I suspect that it would be evident if you look at these peoples' personal lives, for a start.

Maybe they can rename the Menorah the "Seven Pillars of Jewish Shame". And ride around in cars with a bumper sticker that says, "Unleavened Bread: It's All We Deserve."

I particularly like the fact that they've managed towork up not only a sizeable Jewish self-hate, but an entire anti-Western self-hate as well. I am IMPRESSED!
