"along with Islamic jihadist materials (that would include the Koran), Jewish, Christian, Hindu and all other religious texts are going — even though there is no indication that the latter have anything to do with increased terrorist violence."

This is exactly the reason we are struggling in this war against radical Islamist terrorism. All religious texts are the problem? I haven't seen a massive effort by the Jews to conquer and enslave all peoples of the world - but especially Americans - based on selective quotations from the Old Testament. Have you? (The quotes are in there.)

The radical Islamists are our enemy, and we cannot seem to face up to precisely that fact. There simply must be a more appropriate action to take than stripping all religious texts.

If the threat of a lawsuit prompted the scope of this action, it is a reminder of the many ways in which our individual freedom to act is constrained by the fear of harassment lawsuits. I am reminded of the recent case where two clerks in a convenience store cornered a thief, struck him repeatedly, and held him until the police arrived. They were fired. Probably because the company feared a harassment lawsuit - by the criminal. Another case Book brought up: a teenage girl gang severely beat up another girl while all the adults nearby averted their eyes. Why? Perhaps our societal requirement to stay involved has been stripped by fear of lawsuits, since it is safer to simply not get involved.

To not take the right action, in this case of violent Islamist texts, and all the other cases, is a slow-burning threat to the quality of our society.

That's pretty heady company you put me in, Book. I'll probably never be able to write another word now. BTW, let me be one of the last (probably) to say the new look is nice.

[...] Bookworm happened upon an article by Robert Spencer discussing the last tape released on Friday. In his article he discusses what he thinks Osama’s message meant. The important point to Spencer was Bin Laden’s invitation to Islam. Spencer eludes to an attack being imminent and that the only way it can be avoided is if the West accepts Bin Laden’s invitation and embraces of Islam. [...]

Patrick Poole looks at the CAIR driven canard that Muslims are victims of increasing anti-Muslim racism in the American workplace.

They're just using the same method that Arafat used on the Jews. Create a sense of oppression, maintain that sense, and then use it to justify atrocities as "expectable behavior".
