		<description>I don't imagine it's P.C. to notice, but the "mainstreaming" of physically, mentally, and socially handicapped children has cost the vast majority of more normal children tremendously, since a great share of classroom time is spent coping with the unintended consequences of putting the "different" in an environment they aren't really able to cope with adequately.

This was a well-intentioned change in school policies, but we ought always to remember what the road to hell is paved with.</description>

And who will get the short end of the stick?  The "average" student, whose parents have "average" income, because the school has limited resources, and will have to pay the equivalent of a single teacher's annual pay to educate a single child instead of 25 children.
I have sympathy for families with handicapped children, but the day is coming when we may have to choose whether we'll educate those who can benefit society or those who benefit _from_ society.</description>
