It's a publicity stunt, there's nothing abnormal about December craving May, and the media right now tends to celebrate the May/December relationships where the woman is the older, when, historically, the reverse used to be true. However, the one thing that you miss is that, for 19 year old, without any deep emotional connection to offset things, a 77 year old is physically too old -- that is, there is nothing there for her to find attractive, and the same is true if the sexes are reversed. He is giving himself the back-handed compliment that he can still expect success in that area and saying that society should at least not TEACH younger women to reject older males (institutionalized social ageism), which society in parts of the US and Germany is in fact doing.
