Bookworm said,

and, yes, I like Abba

I can relate to that. or that "attitude"

It is not so much that I like ABBA as the fact I love 3 or 4 of their songs.

And also the fact that I too feel some guillt or maybe not some guilt but I kind of worry some people might lift their noses on me for admitting to liking a pop band.

When someone laughs at me for liking a few ABBA song I remind them that when they were very popular ABBA was one the biggest money making industry of Sweden
( Or whatever north-west European country they are from )
in fact if I remember correctly from a Time Magazine article I read more than 20 years ago, ABBA was as big as Volvo.

People who think pop music is stupid have no idea what they are talking about.

The first thought that occurred to me after reading about this little incident is, how smart does one need to be to advertise that one's city is devoid of American soldiers when there are terrorists here who are trying to mount attacks against American citizens? It just doesn't smack of a very high level of awareness.

I am very pleased to hear that there are some counter-protesters there supporting our marines. I think that these code pink folks relegated themselves to a comic relief role quite a while ago. But, I live in Texas, so I can afford to laugh at the west coast antics. My deepest sympathies to all who have been humiliated by the city of Berkeley.

Best regards,
Gail

Every adult knows that actions have consequences.....let's not treat the good (or even the not-so-good) people of Berkeley like children in this situation.

You don't want the U.S. Military in Berkeley -- fine......but then we don't send any U.S. taxpayer money, either. And make it stick.

I was there in the morning (pictures at http://www.protestshooter.com/2008BerkeleyMarinesMorning/ ) and just got back from another hour there in the evening (pictures once I've had dinner) and the anti-Marine crowd was really disgusting - and I mean both in the sense of cursing/spitting/smelling bad and in the sense of their crazy beliefs. There was no way to have discourse - they were shouting on and on about how they had no free speech as they freely protested with at least a dozen news vans and several helicopters covering them.

I also got shoved by a cop - they were clearly on the side of the protesters. Just disgusting.

Well put. They surely have tipped their hand. The question is, how much of the country will actually know about this, aside from those of us who read and listen outside the box of the "mainstream" media?

[...] Bookworm Room wrote an interesting post today on The mask is offHere’s a quick excerptSince the Iraq War began, the Left has attempted to disassociate itself from the ugliness of 1960s anti-War protests by repeating, over and over, “W e love the troops.
