BW,
I can confirm certain things for you, having returned from OIF 3 in Oct '06. The Iraqi Air Force was up and running when I left, the police had about 25,000 trained personnel (at that time), the commando battalion, naval infantry, and Navy were up and running, and cell phones were EVERYWHERE. I drove past five operating universities and lived at IMAR - the Iraqi Military Academy at Rustimiyah, where the new Iraqi Army was training. The television had at least eight channels, though I didn't understand the Arabic. Our military was working on rebuilding, sponsoring, and improving schools and health care; I got to go to the grand opening of a clinic in Mashtal mahalla, in northeast Baghdad as part of my work.
All in all, the numbers and phrases look about right; I can't give exact ones either. I do know that I had cell phone coverage throughout the Baghdad metro area and there was plenty to see that was changing for the better.

I'll leave off at that and wish everyone a fine day as I get ready for bed.

BECAUSE OUR MEDIA DOESN’T TELL US!

Why should the national or international media tell us anything that would motivate us to keep fighting their allies and friends? Seen in that perspective, it is perfectly logical and ethical for enemies of America to refuse to tell us information that would make us feel better about our fight with them and their allies.

It would be unethical for a Nazi to promote stories of Jewish courage and humanity. It would be treasonous actually. And the same applies to the media. They would be committing treason had they reported news that motivated us.

Since that horse is stumbling, the only way the media can avoid losing the race is to hide the finish line.

Shooting the horse in the lead would be a far more effective feasible solution than trying to hide the finish line.

Osama likes the strong horse. It is very hard to think of a dead horse as strong, though.

if the underlying truth is that America is making a positive difference, that things are improving, and that the overly hasty removal of Americans from Iraq will result in a maelstrom that makes Pol Pot’s Killing Fields look like a mere trial run for mass slaughter.
b>

People want change. The current status quo of people being saved by America must be changed, Book, and Obama will do it for those Americans that demand change. The hope of a better future for Americans can only be gained by sacrificing other people's lives outside of America. How else does the Left explain America's dominance and economic prosperity than that it came from looted nations and exploited peoples? And if they believe that this is where wealth comes from, how can they hope to change things for the better in America without doing as they themselves defined prosperity as? Stealing it from other people, whether it is the rich in America or foreigners in Iraq. That is the change they want, and it is the change Obama understands that Americans want, even if Americans on the Left won't admit it to themselves.
