I think that a lot of the male bloggers know that and because of that, they think they can get you to leave -- and they have actually gotten various women to leave. I could tell, when I was first getting noticed, that there were people, whether they consciously thought it or not, that believed they could just make me get out --that they would make the blogosphere so rough of a place for me that (I) would close up and go home.

Excuse me, but isn't that the same thing terrorists are trying to do to the US in Iraq?

So I suppose regardless of which ideology you are fighting for, if you think it will work, you'll do it. Human nature strikes again.

...I get rape threats, which I find really funny. Usually, they're like, "Kathy is so ugly. What she need is (to be raped)"

Hrm... for some reason I find that kind of attitude she has vaguely familiar to something...

With people like her and me, the more people that are angry at us -- it's sort of energizing in a horrible way. It's like, "I'll show you, I'll stick around another day, another week, another year, just to irritate you."

That's actually the mentality you get when a person goes berserk, except magnified a couple of orders of magnitude. Whatever pain or setback occurs to that person, he or even she just becomes more motivated into winning and crushing the opposition.

I think the old Marine war handbook says when you are attacking an enemy, you have to look for their point of weakness.

I'm impressed. We got some budding tacticians going on here.

What we end up getting is more of that because people know women are sensitive to it.

Doesn't that make those peeps the same as terrorists who take more hostages because they know they will be rewarded with ransom money for it? And when those same people say we shouldn't torture terrorists at Gitmo because the terrorists kill women and rape children, aren't they just talking about themselves?

You're going to get nasty emails, no matter what. But yes, I think there is an element of the critical feedback you get (as a woman) that is more misogynistic and sexual than men generally get.

Unless you're special, like corporal Matt Sanchez.

I think that, obviously when you're talking about video, which some people are talking about as the future of the blogosphere, yeah, it helps to have a cute face.

You don't hear complaints about that from people over at Blackfive, Book. Except for the golem-trolls.

you are who you are and you don't have to put a paper bag over your head to be taken seriously.

Jimbo would go "un-pacifist" if she ever did that.

Megan Ortagus talking about counter insurgency in Iraq, on Blackfive, partly because she's a cute girl, than would tune in to hear Uncle Jimbo talk about it

Hear, hear, Katherine. Except Jimbo's shiny plate was probably done purposefully to annoy us as we tried to see Megan in the shadows. The two did a side by side interview in some low tech place.

Now, you're not going to be able to keep that spot if you're hemming and hawing and a deer in the headlights when you go on.

Ha, that reminds me of Matt of Blackfive when he came on FOX via Atlanta, I think. The bright lights really bothered him and there was also a really loud siren in the background. You could hear the doppler effect! Matt was stayed cool though, and I had to rewatch the segment when he mentioned the sirens cause I didn't even notice anything due to the fact that Matt didn't give any body gesture clues.

For people that want a look back at Corporal Matt Sanchez and what the Left said about him, you can go here.
