It does seem that the liberal establishment is trying to make the Mamet metamorphosis disappear by ignoring it. It's the same childish behavior they display when ignoring their own individual responsibility. I come to the conclusion that is why libs hate conservatives in general and Bush specifically. Conservatives insist on personal responsibility. The adult attitude. The libs are singing "I won't grow up!"
You could construe liberals' oversensitivity to alleged racial slurs as simply play ground name calling. They have given mere words, and those who use them, the power to "hurt", instead of taking the responsibility to be strong in oneself, control one's own emotions, and deny that power to hurt with mere words. The majority of libs live in a childish world. The leaders of that world are the dangerous ones.

who put greater premium on doing than thinking

In today's war of insurgencies and the strategic corporal, fighters must think as well as do.

Their thinking is just not art, unless you consider war an art.

Rent a copy of a Mamet movie "Spartan." My own theory of Mamet is that he is an intellectual, a man of letters, of words and ideas, and a keen observer, who is fascinated and somewhat in awe of men of action, who put greater premium on doing than thinking, on discipline and self sacrifice for the mission and not on smug self satisfaction.

Greetings:

A couple of years back, I took note, with more than some surprise, of David Mamet's involvement with a CBS dramatic series entitled "The Unit." As an ex-infantryman, I was surprised to find that the episodes were both balanced and believable as they followed the admittedly fictional adventures of a team of Special Forces operators on missions in various parts of our conflicted world.

So, now I know.
