Ahmadinejad joins Truther ranks

Sometimes, if you want to run a sanity check, it’s helpful to look at those who share the same views you do. Perhaps some of the Truthers might be a little shaken in their beliefs if they realized that apocalyto-nut Ahmadinejad is also a Truther. On second thought, when I think about who the Truthers are, it occurs to me that finding that he is a fellow traveler may just cement them more firmly in their views.

Hi Bookworm –
I think your second thought is much more closer to the truth. This will be a badge of honor to the truthers – it would not occur to them to stop and think about the significance of the fact that their beliefs coincide.
It is a little like the Democrats. They never seem to stop and think about the significance of the fact that the majority of people who have been in jail or prison classify themselves as Democrats. Coincidence? Well . . .

My middle name should have been “typo” . . .

That’s because even criminals have standards. Even though they are in trouble with the law, they can pride themselves on still being members of the human race. As opposed to rutting animals that rape children, mass murderers, and the usual slime stuff.
Which means just like most criminals will say that they are innocent, so many will also say that they are Democrats rather than the nasty, brutish, and evil Republicans.
That may be, Y, but something tells me that they are more ready to identify with the Democratic party because they recognize some shared values. And perhaps they realize that the Democrats are less likely to punish them for their deeds, regardless of who they harmed or how.
This makes me think – slightly off topic but oh well – earlier this week, I was at the gym and came across an article in Newsweek (Time? not sure) that was written by a black female prosecutor in Kentucky. The whole point of her article was to explain why she does her job, even though the vast majority of people whom she prosecutes are black. Of course, she has been asked (harassed) by many in the black community, “why are you putting our brothers in jail?” I loved the clarity and power of the attorney’s response. She simply stated that she was not responsible for putting her “brothers” in jail – their actions were responsible for putting them in jail and she was simply tired of seeing so many of her black friends and neighbors beaten, robbed, cheated, and murdered. She really didn’t care anymore who had done it – she wanted the perpetrators put behind bars. She also had some fascinating suggestions as to why there is such an incidence of black-on-black crime.
Anyway, I came away being impressed by this woman. She so clearly saw right from wrong and did not hesitate to stray from the herd-mentality when she realized it was necessary. At some point in the past, she had stopped, looked around, and realized that she didn’t want to be part of a group that believed something that was so demonstrably false and damaging. She has paid a price for her choices. But after reading her story, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of liberty and what it means to be responsible for your beliefs.

I wonder if it will be the Truthers or President Awk that states first that the Boston Massacre was staged by George W. Bush on March 5, 1770, just to embarass poor King George.
