Unnerving is a very good word for that article.

The West is perfectly ripe for allowing the Islamic system to take over. Maybe it was one of Bookworm's earlier posts but I remember reading somewhere recently that at some point, the Islamic system is going to force Americans and other westerners to make a choice between two values that we normally hold dear and equal to each other: preservation of our traditions, values and way of life AND the belief in the right of religious liberty.

The Muslims see this as clear as day and so for a long time, they have been chipping away at the West by asserting their "right of religious liberty," although God knows they would never allow others to assert that same right in their home countries. Eventually, as discussed in Dr. Hammond's article, their numbers will grow to such a point that their way of life and their incessant insistence that all others honor their preferences and their "rights" will wind up threatening the values, beliefs, and traditions that most of us have here in the West. And in order for us to protect those, we will need to severely curtail some aspects of religious liberty and bear worldwide condemnation for being hypocritical.

I hate the idea that if we are going to preserve the West, it will require us to be hypocritical on this one point. But if that is the price of survival, so be it.
