NEWSFLASH. (April 28, 2009 - Jerusalem). Hamas detonates nuclear device in Tel Aviv. One million feared dead. Former President Jimmy Carter professes "disappointment".
"I thought that we had an understanding," said the tireless Mideast peace activist, while calling for a new round of negotiations.
"I can't think of a clearer reason for Israel to be more forthcoming in its discussions with the Palestinians," said Carter.

Carter's a master of double think. Don't think you can find somebody better than him at it nor with his long history of experience.

Double think makes civilization possible.

Just wondering, but do you think Cater would say it was a " COUNTERPRODUCTIVE Washington policy . . . to boycott and punish political factions or governments [in South Africa] that refuse to accept United States mandates." Or that it was counterproductive to boycott the Olympics? A little inconsistent, I'd say.

I agree with Bookworm. Carter is not demented - he is about 20% fool and 80% evil.

The idea that Hamas would disband its militia in Gaza if a nonpartisan professional security force could be formed is ridiculous and ANYONE who had a cursory familiarity with them (or really any militia force) would know that. I believe Carter does know it and he is simply promoting a lie.

And another thing - it turns my stomach that that man actually thinks that it is a selling point to say that Hamas would be willing to allow Cpl. Shalit to write a letter to his parents. Maybe I'm wrong but aren't prisoners supposed to be allowed to write letters from time to time?

Whatever. Carter clearly loves to collaborate with evil but isn't very adept at it. Even the folks he says he is trying to help make him look like a fool.

A COUNTERPRODUCTIVE Washington policy in recent years has been to boycott and punish political factions or governments that refuse to accept United States mandates.

That's funny. Isn't Carter the President who cut off support for the Shah of Iran to punish his government for refusing to accept US mandates? That led to the Ayatollah overthrowing the Shah and bringing about the most powerful Islamic terrorist state in the world, not to mention the invasion of our embassy (US sovereign territory) and the kidnapping of our diplomats.

Seems like the only people whose human rights Carter is concerned about are the enemies of our country and of humanity.

Nepal is Tibet redux. It is interesting that Carter finds elections, that are heavily interfered in by a foreign power, as fair. I really don't understand him. No amount of killing and mayhem is too much for him it seems.

"The Maoists are succeeding in meeting their major goals..." Does he even realize what some of those goals are? I hate to tell him but the same goals Mao had are what these people have, their Maoists Jimmy. Are you down for the death toll Jimmy?

I now firmly believe Carter is an anti-semite and he is actively pursuing some of the same goals as Hamas. I can find no other explanation, unless he is suffering from dementia.

The Nepal Maoists, just like so many Islamists, would be put in insane asylums if they attempted to clearly state their positions and world view in an American court.
Their main strategy for gaining power began with attacks on police stations, jails and later prisons. There goal was to free convicted killers and convince them to help terrorize the rural/mountain population so that they could impose their will. They are Maoist because they use chaos to make themselves the one surviving authority.
The monarch came to power by killing all this siblings. We don't know that for sure, but he is evil and they are dead.
What a bad lot for the average Nepali to have to choose from. The US is quite right to consider Maoist evil.
