A real shame *UPDATED*

The 152-year old Governor’s Mansion in Austin, Texas, is just about one of the prettiest Southern, Greek-revival style buildings you’ll ever see. Or should I say, you ever saw (past tense). News is out this morning that a “catastrophic” fire raced through the building, and the photo accompanying this story indicates that there’s nothing unreasonably extreme about that description. I sincerely hope that they are able to restore this lovely, historic building to its former glory.

UPDATEIt seems to be arson.

That is a shame. I never visited there, but drove by it several times. the Capitol building had a fire once that could have spread further and destroyed the building, because it was in not good shape. Hopefully, they’ll be able to restore the Governor’s Mansion. It definately is a historic site in Texas, as well as Austin.
