Hello Bookworm,

Oh. My. Word. Obama and Miss South Carolina need portable teleprompters. I wonder how Obama would answer the question posed to Miss South Carolina:

Questioner: Recent polls show that a fifth of Americans can't locate America on a map, why do you think this is?

B. Obama: EEVERYBODY KNOWS that if... you know, if you want CHANGE this time around, well... EVERYBODY KNOWS that if we... we have to adjust our education system to make sure that we're not follow the failed policies of the Bush, you know, administration. And this cost.. The COST IS...

That, um... that we have to reward our students for them to... uh... know, you know, where our country is. It's incumbent upon us... to have faith to change, and not be... um, distracted tangentially by... um...

We have to turn the page and change!

Questioner: Can you clarify what you mean?

B. Obama: (exasperated) You know, I've already answered your question. I think it is disingenuous to imply that I haven't answered your question. This is the old politics I've been talking about, the old politics we need to get away from, and I think, you know... that it is unfair to mischaracterize me in this manner.

Host: (shrugging) Thank you, Barack Obama, for that enlightening answer.

Every so often Obama gets something right. Given Book's focus on family issues and the importance of a mother and a father to the spiritual, moral, emotional and physical well-being of their children (and the 70% + out-of-wedlock birth rate among black communities), I'd consider every once in a while, occasionally, give the guy credit when he (rarely) deserves it.

Rick Moran at RightWing NutHouse has a good take on the speech and the swelling left-wing blowback. First Bill Cosby and now Obama - the left-wing is not a happy camp right now: "They're not gonna take it! Hell no, they ain't gonna take it... anyMORE!"
