How things have changed

Britain had a very funny show that ran from 1980 to 1988 called Yes, Minister.  It was being made as a lot of the current crises in Europe and Britain — mostly EU hegemony and Islamic immigration/militancy — were beginning to become part of the political scene.  The show was also made before political correctness and multiculturalism became entrenched at the BBC specifically and in Britain generally.  The following clip is a fascinating look at how the Brits thought before they became completely stifled by political orthodoxy.  Regarding the EEC bits (which was how the EU started), I still remember my British friends making nasty cracks about the fact that France was in it only to depress agriculture prices so that it could compete:

Funny you should raise the topic of political humor. If you have time, check these out - I found them while looking for something else. The first is quite long, the second not so. Who knew!!

SueK- the National Review link is definitely a keeper - as applicable today as it was in the 1980s.

Simply substitute “Bush” for “Reagan” and [fill in the blank with the following.....] Taliban, Jihadis, Al Qaeda, or Iraqis for “Soviet Union”.

Remember when Democrats and MSM pundits lamented how our military would stall in the “cold, harsh winter” of Afghanistan?

I do. They don’t. I will remind them of it, however…every chance I get.
