Hot, hot, hot, hot, hot

In my neck of the woods, morning is usually a cool time.  Today, at 6:30, it was 80 degrees.  We’re simply not equipped here for that kind of heat.  My house has no A/C and, worse, no cross-ventilation.  Unless a true wind starts blowing (in which case the whole house starts rattling if windows are open), not a breath of air stirs here.

Of course, I won’t be at home to suffer.  I’ll be somewhere else, suffering more.  My daughter has a swim meet today at a pool with no shade.  I don’t handle heat very well (I guess since I grew up with fog in my veins), and I’m just dreading this meet.  I will pack lots of water; I will not whine!

Talk to y’all later.

Across the bay here in Richmond, I slept in the trailer last night — it’s the only place I have with an A/C. You can see the temperatures at my house here.

Anybody know how to do a fog dance?

In Texas in the summer, when and if the daily high is below 95 degrees, it is comfortable. I still haven’t turned on my AC, and we have seen 99-like highs.

    Get a fan.
Get out in the weather to acclimate your body to it. This also works in very cold weather, which I saw in my Northeast childhood.

    Wear a hat outside.

    Bookworm,

Me too (Monterey county, which your header picture looks suspiciously like…) Thank God for the recent rain that just fell (rain in June!). The clouds and rain just lowered the temp by 10 degrees.

Gringo, it’s hard to acclimate when the mercury rarely goes over 85 degrees! It’s like telling someone from Hawaii to get used to the cold.

    BW,

‘Tis a little warm here, to your south, today. We ventured up to S.F. for a morning meeting, and headed back for S.J. the outside temp was rising to about 100 deg. Warm, all right, but there were clouds forming.

Here at home, it was raining! Just bits, here and there, but raining. Since we arrived, the temps have dropped about 10 deg. I think I just heard thunder.

Crazy weather, it is. At least it’s a bit different. ;-)

I’m fairly south of you…Ventura county. Very hot today…we’re hiding out in the house. It’s now nearly 5PM, and it’s just starting to cool off.
Gringo…acclimating is what you do when you get weather like this on a regular basis – for those of us on the coast, it’ pretty unusual, so you can’t acclimate – unless we go somewhere inland and live there. But that’s why we live where we do!!
