That is an incredibly well done video. I agree with jlibson, they put a LOT of time and hard work into making it. This wasn't made off the cuff and they didn't just cheap it out. I consider this video politics as art. Impressive.

I know campaigns can't put time and effort into productions like these for TV... but they could organize an internet campaign to support efforts like these. I ought to be able to go to McCain's web site and, via just a few clicks, get to notable efforts like this video. He could do a lot more to highlight the efforts of people to support him.

This was great!

Given my antipathy towards Hollywood, I think it would benefit people to realize the difference between illusion and reality.

We've all seen Hollywood movies and the kind of illusions they needed to craft to tell their stories.

But not many people actually know the difference between real violence and Hollywood violence.

You can still see when they pull their punches and when they aren't putting the weight of their body through the strike.

Pro wrestling has learned how to hide "hits" from the cameras, in that when you see them hit with speed and bounce, that's not what it is supposed to look like.

A successful strike looks like this one, where you stay in one place or your striking edge keeps going, while the other guy flies away from you.

If it doesn't look like this in choreography, then it's just non-specific trauma and the kinetic energy is getting dissipated somewhere other than the target. This is a rather important detail when you want to create the illusion.

But for non-studio work, it's still pretty high quality fx and martial arts moves.

That escape from the hand grab and extension, though, that's pretty much impossible. Your hands already broken or sprained and it's not going to escape just cause you put your other hand on your forearm.

I agree completely, jlibson. It was wonderfully choreographed, in addition to being really clever.

THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER!!! (or at least in the last week or so).

Book, you do martial arts. Have you ever done any "set pieces" where you string together a series of "fake hits" with an opponent. It is *incredibly* hard and time consuming.

These guys not only had tons of witty dialogue, they also managed to do some really cool martial arts. Amazing. Just amazing.

So I was right, you did want to see more of it after the first minute mark ; )

I had the same reaction to the first minute and a half, which is why I put in some teasers to get you past that point to the meat.
