The good things in life

Something nice happened to me today:  Laer Pearce, who blogs at Cheat-Seeking Missiles, and who is a man I’ve counted as one of my blog friends almost from day one, swung through my town today, and we met for tea and company.  Not only that, he brought with him Incredible Daughter #1 and Incredible Daughter #3, both of whom are everything he’s always said in his blog:  poised, intelligent and beautiful.  Nature and nurture were clearly working well together as those two grew up.

As always when I meet someone I’ve known only through blogging, I was a little trepidatious.  It’s always possible that an an easy online relationship might not translate into a comfortable in-person meeting.  I needn’t have worried.  Laer is everything his blog indicates:  intelligent, warm, interesting, well-read and, of course, an obviously good father.  Our time together flew by and I would happily have hung out longer if it weren’t for time constraints pulling at both of us.

Blogging is a pleasure in and of itself, but I have to say that the friendships I’ve formed, whether they’re limited to cyberspace or cross over into the real world, are an extra added bonus.
