Charmless

I’m not telling you anything new when I say I’ve always considered Obama a pompous bloviator. That’s unsurprisng, I guess, when you consider what serious, condescending business it is when you’ve allied yourselves with the Gods. At Forbes, Peter Robinson considers whether Obama’s humorless, thin-skinned personality is itself a recipe for his defeat.

Life imitates art when it comes to the Palin candidacy…
Many years ago, courtesy of Turner Classic Movies (my favorite TV station), I watched The Farmer’s Daughter, a 1947 film starring Loretta Young and Joseph Cotten. Over the years, I’ve carried a strong memory of liking the movie a great……
book,
let me get this straight. you’re actually calling obama thin-skinned? in relationship to who? wasn’t it your candidate that threated the press and denied access; and has publicly said that the media was being too hard on his vp candidate, for asking her questions about her inconsistencies regarding her record no less?
you really are just throwing everything up against the wall and hoping it sticks aren’t you? well, obama is once again ahead in the polls and this financial crisis is making mccain look like a fool, so i guess i don’t blame you.
peace
>>wasn’t it your candidate that threated the press and denied access; and has publicly said that the media was being too hard on his vp candidate, for asking her questions about her inconsistencies regarding her record no less?>>
No. Don’t know who you’re talking about, but the above does not fit the description or facts about McCain/Palin.
suek,
YES IT DOES! i guess you just haven’t been paying attention. cognitive dissonance?

–and don’t get me started on the mccain camp’s sheltering of palin.
now who is the more thin-skinned? find me anything comparable to this from th e obama camp! i’ll wait.

Dagon,
I believe you need to be more conversant with your candidate and the actions of his campaign. McCain did not deny access to his own records; he did not (and is not required) to release those of his wife or his divorce. Obama has and continues to stonewall on the release of his own records, including (as of my last noting) those regarding his selective service.
I’d call you a troll, but I have a rather high regard for those creatures of fantasy.
Fare thee well, and I hope you will cite your sources in the future.
SSG Dave
“There are two types of politicians – bad ones and dead ones; the latter are normally called statesmen.”
SGT Dave,
obama hasn’t stonewalled on anything. stop reading hugh hewitt. trolls don’t document. i document everything. bookworm is currently holding my previous post outlying mccain’s obstructions in moderation, which is well-sourced. she does that a lot with me when she’s caught spreading falsehoods to the ignorant faithful.
basically, the strategy here has been to call me a troll, thus dismissing my points without having to debate them; which is an engagement the usual suspects here (particularly book), always lose.
once my previous post becomes active, read through the links and the challenge issued. i’ll issue another one right now. sure me evidence that obama has not released his records.

For anyone interested in learning how the smear campaigns against Sarah Palin are being orchestrated, generated and circulated, here’s an interest insight at JAWA – just follow the bouncing thread to the end…this is some very good detective work, here:

Funny, protestations by the dagons of the world aside, bottom-line is that we have a Republican governor of Alaska with 86% approval. I don’t think that anyone can ultimately overcome that with slanders that say more about the state of the minds and souls of her detractors than they say about Palin.
Here’s more on the Alinsky (fascist) tactics employed by the Obama campaign to smear Palin, with a direct linkage to David Axelrod.
http://ace.mu.nu/
I agree, dagon, you are not a troll. Trolls are solitary creatures.
So, dagon, how does your role fit into this. Paid? Volunteer? Please enlighten us. To your post above: you don’t comment, you sow confusion with what I and many others here am convinced you know to be half-truths and deliberate distortions.
Dagon,
I have spent endless time debating a very liberal friend of mine. We’re learning to stop each debate when we get to the point of realizing that we’re simply butting up against totally incompatible world views. When the debate becomes simply about the worldviews, the debate is completely fruitless.
A worldview changes only in response to earthshaking events. For me, it was 9-11: The world is not a nice, wonderful, peaceful place! There are implacable enemies out there who genuinely do want to murder a hundred million Americans. If only they could get the chance. I was a Democrat-leaning independent and during the year following 9-11, my shattered worldview rebuilt itself solidly along conservative lines.
Debating worldviews is a waste of time. That’s why you’ll see several debates peter out after fifteen or so comments. At some point it becomes fruitless.
danny,
then you should have no problem answering any of my points or any of the challenges issues above. find comparable tactics employed by obama. remember, the topic of this thread was how thin-skinned he supposedly is. i showed you mine, where are yours?
thus far, you’ve just been trying to define me and have offered bupkus in defense of your own assertions.
i wonder why that is.
peace
I’ll give it a shot dagon, though you’re really waiting for another’s reply.
Book’s original post is about a lack of humor. I can point you to innumerable instances of McCain humor, but you can find them easily.
Second, pointing to articles on andrewSullivan and WaPost are fruitless as they are in the bag for Obama. I would never link you to a Hannity audio and claim that something in there reveals objective proof. As to the Time article, I’ll have to dig.
The press restrictions have several purposes. The main purpose is to bypass the media. So many have discarded all pretense at objectivity that it has reached critical mass. You do not assist your enemy.
mike
actually that last link is incorrect. it shouldn’t be sullivan. i’ll track down the right link
also, you should really note that rick davis admitted that they were shunning the media, over perceived slights.
this really is a non-starter for you guys
peace
Dagon,
The problem is that none of the sources to which you turn have any credibility on this blog. Certainly, the MSM has no credibility, especially given the complete pass they have given to Obama and his very questionable Chicago history and associations. You link to people that vent snark and bile and cite their distortions as proof-positive of your point of view, which comes out, as you put it so eloquently in an earlier post,…
“…as far as i can tell, she’s still being painted as a scary, incurious, lying opportunist, with marginal reasoning skills. and she has done nothing to extricate herself from that portrayal.” – dagon
Just don’t let her 86% approval rating and track record in Alaska get in the way of such nonsense, dagon. Palin has been talking to the press (so far, ABC and Fox News), just not as much to an MSM media outlets that function as PR agencies for the Democrat/Left. She is under no obligation to talk to them. More importantly, she is out there on the stump talking directly to the American people. Sounds like a reasonable plan to me.
Frankly, for her to address the pure unadulterated venom directed against her is beneath her just as such discourse is beneath contempt. People on this blog took the same attitude to one of your fellow travelers, DG, recently. The point came where DG destroyed his/her credibility, his/her Alinsky tactics were exposed to sunlight, and his/her bile no longer merited a response.
So, as to your question regarding sources, we now become aware that many of the slanders and rumors regarding Palin emanate from no-less a resource than OBAMA Campaign manager David Axelrod’s PR agency (http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/194057.php). Whether it is a Democrat legistor’s son hacking into Palin’s private emails or ACORN “volunteers” intimidating voters and submitting fraudulent voter lists, the scent of corruption on the Left is ripe. Sorry, dagon, your sources are just way too bogus to be taken seriously and it really isn’t worth arguing back and forth with you.
So, Dagon, indulge yourself in the fever swamps of Lefty/Democrat hatred and bile if you must, and you will have my sympathy for a life well-squandered. But please don’t bore us with endless half-truths, distortions and libels spun from sources that are better left to ferment ad lib under the muck of soul-less left-wing fever swamps. Life, real life, moves on.
>>The point came where DG destroyed his/her credibility, his/her Alinsky tactics were exposed to sunlight, and his/her bile no longer merited a response.>>
Personally, I don’t think dagon’s do either. And dg appears to be back as gd….
I guess Bookwormroom is their assignment and must be completed. To what end, I have no idea. They certainly aren’t going to persuade the committed…so … to what end?
Dagon says,
“also, you should really note that rick davis admitted that they were shunning the media, over perceived slights.”
If some guy is running at me, screaming “You’re going to die!”, with a bloody knife raised above his head, is that a “perceived knife”, or is that a “knife”?
The definition of Alinsky tactics must be more than merely saying something a larger group disagrees with. Afterall, by that definition, Vaclav Havel and Oskar Schindler followed them as well. What exactly are Alinsky tactics?
I could be wrong, but I have yet to see the McCain campaign petition the Dept. of Justice to silence a critic:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12816.html
Ask and ye shall receive. Here’s a concise summary of Alinsky’s tactics:
http://www.semcosh.org/AlinskyTactics.htm
To sum up Alinsky’s and Obama’s tactics:
“The ends justify the means.”
Danny, interesting. So which of those tactics does Obama use? Which ones did DG use?
danny
then should really have no problem answering any of the points brought up since they are so easily discredited as being from the MSM. have at it. all you’ve done so far is characterize, not debunk.
peace
…and the Justice Dept. request????
I know, the First Amd. is me thee, not for ye….
Sorry, “for thee…”
And….let’s see here…..

“We wonder what those same voters think of Obama’s sincerity now. In the past few weeks, Obama has thrown so many false accusations against John McCain that just keeping track of them has become difficult. And these aren’t innocent errors. They are deliberate distortions of the sort Obama has always said he reviles.
On Thursday, Obama said of McCain, “He has consistently opposed the sorts of common-sense regulations that might have lessened the current crisis.” That’s entirely untrue.”
To attack your opponent with whatever it is that you yourself are guilty of is a tactic that was developed by the Communists, adopted by the Nazi’s and honed by Alinsky.
The objective is to throw your opponent off balance and into protesting their innocence against these charges, thereby inoculating yourself from similar charges. William Shirer had a very good discourse on how Hitler used these tactics to bully his opponents into frustrated submission in his “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich”.
Danny, so, again, which of Obama’s tactics are like this? Which of DG’s?
Danny, so, again, which of Obama’s tactics are like this? Which of DG’s?
Have you paid your tuition to the War College yet for this instruction on tactics?
On Thursday, Obama said of McCain, “He has consistently opposed the sorts of common-sense regulations that might have lessened the current crisis.” That’s entirely untrue.”
Get it? Obama has been in lock-step with the Ds in Congress to stop reform, and then accuses McCain of opposing “commom-sense regulations.” Obama is guilty of what he charges.
Y,
Don’t be picking on the War College (actually the Command and General Staff College) at Fort Leavenworth. Lots of really good people teach proper tactics down here. The current situation is one of psychological operations and deception; both are part of tactics but neither is a “tactic” in and of itself. Unfortunately for Obama, his use of these tactical components is wasted, since he is not maneuvering away from the target zone under cover… He’s not taking advantage of the distraction to remove his vulnerability and eventually the smoke will clear.
Anyhow, the people out here in the world are starting to ask questions and not trusting what the media are saying. This is a good thing for both sides; the question is who will the middle 10% trust? When they talk about “working together” the facts will come forward (voting record). 98% straight party line is not “bipartisan” – even the old Soviets seldom got over 95% to vote in the same direction consistently – though they used the 5-8% to “prove” that they were not a single party monolith and that there was a loyal opposition with a voice on the national stage. This was a blatant lie; but at least they were smart enough to provide some separation and individual identity away from the party line for their political operatives.
Back from dropping the kids off; heading down to post in a bit to do paperwork and get ready for the new fiscal year.
SSG Dave – “Judge a group by the dissidents it retains; the more vociferous the debate within about the varying degree of correctness, the higher likelihood of discovering honorable beings interested in justice and good government instead of personal gain.”
