It's extremely likely that Obama is a candidate backed by a hidden group of highly influential far-left movers and shakers. George Soros is certainly among them. If true, Obama has already agreed to implement their agenda, and we don't know what that agenda is. We'd be likely to determine the shape of that agenda only as it emerges, program by program. Follow the money. In any case, it will be a far-left agenda, highly socialist in nature, involving a mammoth expansion of government size, government power and government control over our lives.

The Alternative to that Dark Scenario:
There remains the slimmest of chances that Obama is a free agent. There's enough evidence in videos and speeches to prove (at least to me) that Obama is utterly and totally self-centered and a pure narcissist. He will "throw under the bus" anyone that threatens his continued ascent in any way. He will do *anything* to win. As President, he would continue to do *anything* to win. So he might be a wildly unpredictable President, lurching about in any and every direction to keep himself in control of the political agenda - and he won't CARE what that agenda is, so long as he is in control of it. If so, then we Americans get to roll the dice - or have it rolled for us - with unknowable results that might somehow turn out well for all of us.

Not much to hang your hat on!

I simply cannot fathom that we have a man this close to the Presidency and we really know so very little about him. And what little we know raises so many disturbing questions.

I see that people like Warren Buffet support Obama. I see men such as John Glenn campaigning for him. I see the media, who we rely on in such a big way to bring us the facts about a candidate, frantically trying to obscure his history. I look at all of this and wonder if I have entered an alternative universe. Will I wake up on 11/5 to learn it was all a dream? I am afraid the country will wake up in 2009 to a nightmare.

Dunno... think the battle might be lost.

I thought among the most illuminating moments of the debate was when they were asked who they'd consider for Secretary of Treasury. I'm sure 99 and 9/10s percent of the audience blew right past that question - when the hell has the Secretary of the Treasury ever been a subject of a question at a debate? - but understand how the world has fundamentally changed in the last five days.

The Secretary of the Treasury, as outlined in the preamble to this abortion of a "rescue" that was passed last Friday, now has the responsibility to see to it that econmoic happiness is not merely pursued, but now it's a function of government to make sure it's attained. The Secretary is now the economy's Central Planning Czar. We're now engaging in central planning, and it's now in the hands of one person: our economy has been put squarely in the hands of the Secretary, who is now the mostr powerful person on the planet.

Do you think Brokaw - a nothing himself - originated that question? When has such a question ever been asked? Not once ever; but now all of a sudden the question of who's going to hold this heretofore relatively obscure job MATTERS - to a whole lot of very powerful and wealthy people; because that person is now in charge of the economy.

Thought it was equally interesting what didn't come up: Brokaw managed to not mention social security; abortion, illegal immigration; gun control; fund-raising irregularities - all of these were major issues in recent presidential elections. What happened?

Once again, Obama wasn't forced to tell us all his positions on these issues - because he wasn't asked.

Brokaw has, if anything, probably less credibility than Matthews and the other idiot. They're at least out front with their bias; he's become a pro at concealing his. That's the only difference.
