Collectivists vs. individualists

Have you ever noticed that the liberals (or collectivists) are most likely to be willing to hand their lives and fortunes over to chosen individuals, such as demagogic politicians or activists judges, while the conservatives (or individualists) are the ones most suspicious of vesting too much power in any one individual?
