A SUGGESTION FOR BOOKWORM

"I still blog, and I still want to blog, but having a semi-fulltime job is definitely slowing me down."

Book, take a hint from the mainstream media: Phone it in.

Here's how you do it:

1. State your assertion: "George W. Bush slipped further down the slope toward becoming the worst president in U.S. history last night when he. . ."

2. Back it up: "Bush is certainly sliding in people's opinions to the point that we could well consider him the worst president in U.S. history," according to Nastasia Ripple, senior executive assistant president and chair at Femme d'Soleil, a Washington, DC-based public policy think tank.

3. Back it up some more: "Many other experts agree, citing rumors that the president secretly tortures cats."

4. Present an opposing view: "We think this is a rush to judgment about the president, who has, after all, been in critical condition at Walter Reed Hospital these past two weeks" says Dweeb O'Neal, a professor from Mt. Holyoke Junior College in Smegma, GA, whose uncle was arrested for pedophilia in 1952.

5. Repeat until you have filled your quota.

Total elapsed time: 11 minutes.

Glad to be of help!

Just a nitpick:

The Seraphic Secret article is a good'un, deserving of the dual nomination.

But he mangles a quote in the same way it's been mangled many times. If this quote refers to Bette Davis in 'All About Eve' - and since Seraphic Secret spends a lot of time in Hollywood, I believe it does refer to Ms. Davis, the correct quote is:

"Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night."
