Just for fun

I went to my second conservative party in one week, and again had just a lovely time. The company was delightful and I didn’t have to censor myself. I heard there, though, the same thing I heard at the other party and that I read on the internet: (a) December is malaise time; (b) we want Obama to succeed for America’s sake; and (c) local Republicans need to keep the momentum from the election, while national Republicans need to find a message.
As part of malaise time, I’m not going to blog now, I’m going to go watch foolish television, and leave you to enjoy some extraordinarily silly poodle pictures (and here too, with even more pictures, including a nice patriotic one).

Bookworm –
Is this something that is arranged by local conservative politicians or is it an informal gathering of neighbors and friends?
It’s such a great idea! And how nice it feels not to have to censor yourself.

Both of the conservative parties I’ve attended have been pure grassroots, without any party involvement. Both have seen people identify themselves more strongly as small government libertarians hooked to the Republicans party because it, and the Democratic party, are the only games in town. And both have seen people wondering what to do next.
Thank God our transitions of Presidential Power every four years (or eight) are managed so well. The peaceful transition of such breathtaking power is a point in our favor for sure.
But this is the silly season in politics, when current power is on the wane and new power is on the rise. I too am in malaise, because there’s nothing definitive to criticize in an Obama administration that won’t assume the reins of power for another month-plus. We just have to wait…
It *is* a good time for political networking, and your parties, Book, sound wonderful, and it’s a perfect time to be having them!
My plans for political networking in this winter season are out the door, as a two-month project at work is consuming almost every second of free time. It seems everyone involved in this project – in the planning, and for me in accepting it – underestimated it… But of such decisions are risks made, and since I was the one who agreed to shoulder the burden, it’s my job to alleviate the risks.
