For me it breaks down very simply: young Barry has not yet - to this day - taken the simple step of picking up the damn phone and authorizing the State of Hawaii to release his paperwork. Should take him about eight seconds. He won't do it. Why?

Generally, (whether Helen likes it or not), when people flatly refuse to take a simple and readily available step to put a controversy to bed, it's because there's something to it that they have to try to hide. Might be something big and embarrassing, might be something little and stupid, might even be 98% in their own mind: but it's something.

And there are rules that attach to the position to which he aspires, and he ought to be seen to comply with them - also whether Helen likes it or not.

And it should be noted that a birth certificate from Hawaii - not that silly thing with the redacted number (which right there invalidates it) that's been online - is itself proof of little: Hawaii will, for reasons no one seemingly quite understands, give birth certificates to people who were not in fact born in Hawaii. Whch sort of renders even real Hawaiian birth certificates (as opposed to the "certificate of live birth" we've seen on line) more or less worthless.

For me the question has always been the law that in 1961 stated that if you were born to a citizen and a non-citizen,the citizen had to have been so for five years after the age of sixteen, (in other words, they wanted adults deciding where they lived), - which his mother wasn't.

But even granting that it's all okay, hunkey-dory, fine and dandy and upstanding as the sunshine: why won't he take the eight seconds to establish it?

Helen - you know all about how his alleged mind alledgedly works: why?

Why is it that I strongly suspect that 10 years hence you will still be spewing venom against Pres. GW Bush, Helen?

>>I’m not convinced (yet) of any shenanigans beyond Book’s premise that they wanted to avoid the illegitimacy argument clouding up the primaries or the election arguments.>>

But Mike...they could have done that by just submitting the vault copy of the birth certificate to the court the first time it was challenged. So why didn't they? Berg even stated publically - when he filed his suit - that all Obama had to do was submit the certificate (vault copy only) to the court, and he'd fold his tent and silently fade away. But Obama didn't. Aside from all the other issues, that makes me wonder why not.

It's amazing that a candidate was even allowed to participate in one debate without having produced proof of meeting the basic requirements of the office. That birth certificate should be filed immediately upon declaring oneself a candidate for the office. Strange what we allow to proceed.

In this day and age where electronic fakery at a professional level can be accomplished by anyone sitting at their home computer, Obama's photo-copied (and apparently manipulated photocopy, at that) simply doesn't rise to the level of having met the basic requirement. I'm not convinced (yet) of any shenanigans beyond Book's premise that they wanted to avoid the illegitimacy argument clouding up the primaries or the election arguments.

"In other words, I think every presidential candidate should be required to prove this bottom-line prerequisite for the highest office in the land."

Little League requires more stringent proof of birth than does the presidency. You have to collect the original birth certificates and display them on demand for some tournaments.
