As this Reason.tv video explains, while Hitler is appropriately reviled, something that occurs because he is wrongly associated with the Right, despite the fact that his politics were to the Left, Hollywood and pop culture just love Leftist mass murderers:
This video reminds me why I was so horrified when I saw a sweet little baby boy dressed in a Mao shirt — although more depressing was the fact that he was being raised by two women who truly hated men. (Which is quite different from lesbians who like woman but don’t hate men.) I find it hard to imagine that a boy child in a household that hates men and worships mass murderers is going to have an easy time of it in this life.

I was once told in a college class, so I have no way of knowing if this is true…perhaps someone here can verify. I was told that the Chineese language characters for head and heart describe two of what should be polar opposite people. King and Fool. The King has head over heart and the Fool has heart over head. Does any one know if this is true? Seems true in practice regardless of the anecdote.
The Libs live by their heart. I have seen this time and again, liberal parents that have had some success with just “talking” to their children to get them to behave acceptably asking the question why can’t we just talk to the terrorists? Surely they’ll stop if we just talk to them. When it comes to the terrorists prehaps this new proverb will ring true: Lead with the heart, bleed from where your head used to be.

Hitler was a special case in that Hitler attacked communism and communist propaganda started spreading the word on Hitler. This continued on for many decades and finally took hold once the Soviet Union was left standing (by us) while Germany fell.
It is also why many people make weak excuses about how the Soviets lost several millions of men (cannon fodder) while lambasting Americans in Iraq as stupid and the real cannon fodder for Bush’s war. Do you see how extraordinarily contradictory that is? Yet they sustain and hold it as it is as obvious as where the sun rises in the sky.
Hitler is not reviled because he was “associated with the Right”. Hitler was reviled because he went up against Communism. All the enemies of communism are treated the same, just like all enemies of Hitler were treated the same. Hitler was connected with the “Right” in order to make it easier to attack Western capitalism and religious traditions that were standing in the way of the Soviet Empire. Since Hitler was dead, defeated by America, you need a new enemy to place all the blame on. And since it would be hard to say “America supported and helped Hitler” (even though they managed to do that somewhat with the America supported Hitler against Communism propaganda line), they had to connect America with Hitler in another way. Thus the “Hitler had conservative positions” lie.
Hitler was as Leftist as Trotsky was. The only difference today, Book, is that Stalin assassinated Trotsky and invaded Berlin to take down Hitler. Stalin survived to write the history books and that is how they were written. Now neo-cons are called “Trotsyites” while the Left’s political enemies are called “right wing fanatics” or “wingers”.
This kind of stuff is only opaque to the useful idiots of the world. It is almost too obvious to those in the know.
The Left knowingly cut the funding of the South Vietnamese because they knew the North Vietnamese would take care of the upstarts for them. And they were right. History was written by the victors, which in this case, was the American Left, the Soviets, and North Vietnam.
Book, I happen to believe that many mass murderers are people that became warped at an early age by what was done to them by adults. Perhaps that little boy you described will become a future “Che”.
Ymar – the American Left was very pro-Hitler until…(you guessed it) Hitler betrayed Stalin and invaded Russia. I am convinced (based on recent history) that if Hitler hadn’t done that, the American Left would have prevented us from fighting Hitler in Europe. Operation Barbarosa was Hitler’s fatal error.
Hitler got too greedy. Like Emperor Napoleon.
I have the Che shirt where his visage covers most of the chest, but is overlaid with the red crossed-out-circle symbol, thus meaning “No Che!” I’ve had it for two years, and I used to consider it rude to wear it out and about, to the grocery store, to the movies, etc. Why be negative towards other peoples’ opinions and beliefs, was my viewpoint.
But now that this post has reminded me of that T-shirt, I reflected, and I realize my attitude has changed. I have absolutely no problem wearing it now, for any reason, at any time, in public. My beliefs have certainly been denigrated enough over the last year and a half. I no longer care to remain quiet.
Time to be a proud member of the minority opposition, and “wear my opposition in public”.
