Another hope dashed

I wrote last week about the fact that Mr. Bookworm was shocked that African-Americans might still be inclined to indulge in anti-social behavior (such as riots in Oakland) despite Obama’s election.  He was so sure that, once Obama was elected, racial harmony would instantly become the rule, with no exceptions.  John Hindraker warns of more disappointment:

[I]f anyone thinks that electing Obama as President will cause us to be loved by our enemies, just because he isn’t George Bush, that person is doomed to disappointment.

Check out John’s post to see the pictures leading to his conclusion.

Poor, delusional Mr. Bookworm. The shock will wear off eventually, as the tide of additional shock waves will continue.

I can just envision the liberal demonstrations now….Birkenstock sandals being thrown at Nancy Pelosi, Congress, the next president demanding racial harmony.

Until there is harmony in the home and harmony in black neighborhoods, how on earth could anyone believe anything could change.

Whites also thought by voting in the black man for power in South Africa, that things would get better. It didn’t.

Wait! We were supposed to have goodness and light!

Perhaps they don’t understand Obama. Maybe if he just goes and talks to them, they will see how wonderful he is and realize that he is everything the leftists assured us he would be.

    I’ll be waiting . . .

This is more a comment on the PowerLine post.
Yes, the libs were delusional in thinking that Obama’s election would lead to more positive relations for the US overseas. Unfortunately, more positive relations overseas would only occur in the sense that our enemies see him as an easy mark. If they get their way, they “like” the US. From my point of view, if Maudy DinnerJacket likes what we’re doing, we must be doing something wrong.

I hope that the Iranians keep burning Obama’s pictures. For all the “sweetness and light” that Obama projects, he has his origins in hard-knuckled Chicago politics. What happened to Obama’s opponents in the primaries in Chicago and Illinois? Obama knows how to play hardball.

If Obama sees enough of his pictures being burned in Iran, my hope is that he will take it personally, change his view of our enemies, and begin to treat the mullahs as he would a Democratic primary opponent in Chicago.

That is MY version of “hope and change.” I hope I am not as delusional as those who voted as Obama.

I, too, hope that Hopey Changey will take those Iranian photo arsons personally.

The only problem is that with a narcissistic personaility like His Nibs’s, if the Iranians start acting smart (admittedly a long shot there) and kneeling before his likeness, he’ll suddenly feel all Kumbaya-ish about them.

The thing is, even Chicago politics is still that: politics. The Iranians practice kill or be killed, which is something else entirely. It is not politics so much as it is war. And a state of war is completely different from a state called peace or political compromise, which is something even Chicago corruption has.

Human nature doesn’t change no matter who is in charge. We are not and never will be angels. As long as mankind is on the earth, there will be strife, disagreement, murder and other crimes and sins. Even The One can’t stop that.
