Unlike Geithner, Daschle, Emanuel, etc., I pay my taxes

Which is why I haven’t been writing today.  I’ve been scurrying around collecting papers for my accountant.  Still, mid-scurry, I caught this wonderful Kyle-Anne Shiver article, which I think you’ll enjoy.

In the article, Kyle links to an Itar article, and says that money has been set aside to assist Palestinians to come to America. I read the article several times and saw nothing that indicated that particular type of assistance, though there are millions intended for the Palestinians.

If anyone finds a link to something that specifies that “President Obama has just put our money where his mouth is and is using $20.3 million to bring in Palestinian refugees from Gaza” as opposed to just sending them money for aid, I’d sure like to see it…

    suek,

Presidential memorandum No. 2009-15 issued on 2 February 2009.

    THE WHITE HOUSE

    Office of the Press Secretary

MEMORANDUM FOR THE SECRETARY OF STATE

SUBJECT: Unexpected Urgent Refugee and Migration Needs Related to Gaza

By the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 2(c)(1) of the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962 (the “Act”), as amended (22 U.S.C. 2601), I hereby determine, pursuant to section 2(c)(1) of the Act, that it is important to the national interest to furnish assistance under the Act in an amount not to exceed $20.3 million from the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund for the purpose of meeting unexpected and urgent refugee and migration needs, including by contributions to international, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations and payment of administrative expenses of the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the Department of State, related to humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza.

You are authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register.

The relevant portion would be the urgent refugee and migration needs clause.
While not specifically citing relocation to this country, it does not deny it either.

    Tip of the berg.

“U.S. government support for humanitarian assistance to Palestinian refugees and conflict victims now totals nearly $120 million in [fiscal year] 2009, including nearly $60 million in Gaza,” the State Department announcement said.
