A sinking tide *UPDATED*

(Composed on my iPhone, so forgive the inevitable typos.)

I caught a few minutes of Sean Hannity’s radio show today. In response to a liberal caller who basically claimed that Obama’s economic plans end poverty by fulfilling poor people’s every need, Hannity reminded us all that America is such a wealthy country that even our poor people are well off compared to the poor in other times and places. In other words (tho’ Sean didn’t say it in so many words), the rising tide of America’s capitalist economy raises all boats.

Unlike a traditional society based on feudal (or even socialist) principles, the rich do not get rich by depriving the poor of wealth. They get rich by fostering an economy in which the poor can buy things. In capitalist societies, ironically enough (at least, ironically from the Leftist point of view), the rich can only maintain wealth if the poor are comparatively affluent too.

Obama, with his grandiose plans to strip the rich of their wealth, will also inevitably strip the poor of what little affluence they have too. In true Communist fashion, barring a few powerful government operatives, we’ll all be poor together. Obama is creating the receding capitalist tide that will lower all boats.

The only good thing about this is that it will be the one campaign promise Obama keeps — ’cause didn’t he promise that, once he was president, the water levels would sink? If only the masses had understood that he was speaking metaphorically about America’s prosperity.

UPDATESome numbers to back my point about Obama’s assault on the American economy.
