The few, the proud . . . the honest *UPDATED*

You know how I feel about the Marines. And now Barack knows how the Marines feel about him:
I found the above video at Cheat-Seeking Missiles, where Laer also has a picture that is worth ten thousand words.
UPDATE: Blackfive has more, including a reminder about why the troops might be just a little bit lukewarm towards their new commander in chief.

Well, of course, the leftists will say that the photo of the military with Obama is just a freeze frame – a tenth of a second in which Obama was talking about something grave.
But there is no disguising the joy they felt when they saw President Bush. It was real. Authentic.
I guess the left needs to find a video of unfettered enthusiasm by the troops for President Obama. Good luck with that.
Completely OT but:
Have any of you noticed that none of our leftist friends here on this site have visited us for a while?
Some we haven’t heard from since the election.
Hmmmmm. What could that mean?
Well, I was prepared for a lot of gloating from my own personal Leftist (Mr. Bookworm), along the lines of “Isn’t Obama doing a wonderful job? You have to admit that you were all wrong about him.” As it is, Mr. Bookworm is remarkably silent.
Deana, you are being unfair to the Big O. I can think of plenty of opportunities where Obama would get a rousing ovation from troops.
From, for example: Kenyan Troops, Chinese Troops, Iranian Troops, Hamas Troops, Russian Troops, Venezuelan Troops…
Haaa-haaa-haaa!
Now that’s funny!

They are suffering from the pangs of cognitive dissonance. For years they were told and trained and mentored on how to handle a Republican “control” of Congress: attack Republicans and make points about how good it is to “sit on a fence” with a “pox on both their houses”. Well, the Dem’s house is now their house, cause they voted for it. So how can they sit on both sides? For Oz, that is of prime importance. For Helen? Not so much.
Don’t worry, they will eventually find their equilibrium and their controllers like Soros or Chomsky or their “moderate Republican” friends will soon be able to give them new talking points, new ways to demonstrate that they are not at fault, that it is the fault X, Bush, and etc.
They will be back and their fervour will be proportionate to the amount of disaster that they themselves contributed to, gleefully and unashamedly anti-Palin and pro-Obama.
What is Oz going to say now? That the Dems stole the election like the Republicans stole the election in 2000/2004? Is that what she is going to claim? Or will she just say “that’s not my view, that’s the view of these respectable intellectuals”? Or will she prove herself a hypocrite on this score by accusing Repubs of stealing elections, after calling herself moderate and not biased against either party, and then never mentioning and putting forth the effort here that she put forth into attacking the Republicans?
These are questions, Book. And you know the problem with tools and questions. They weren’t designed to answer questions, you see. They were designed to be used to solve questions, via applying solutions. And the Democrat party, with obama, will soon have a Solution for All of Us.

Which leads me to the true irony of not being political: I don’t like talking politics. It is personal, but some things are a matter of public record, including my substantial six figure donations to the Democratic Party before I was no longer allowed to contribute by contractual agreement. I regard two Democratic governors as my friends, and helped back one of them in a major financial way and spoke and campaigned directly for the other.
I also made it clear in a New York magazine article that I favored Obama over McCain because I thought Obama to be a middle-of-the-road Democrat, exactly the kind I have supported all my adult life, although I will admit to being far more left-wing during my teenage years and early 20s.
To be totally out of the closet, I actually embrace every part of Obama’s agenda, right down to the increase on personal taxes and the mortgage deduction. I am a fierce environmentalist who has donated multiple acres to the state of New Jersey to keep forever wild. I believe in cap and trade. I favor playing hardball with drug companies that hold up the

This was an interesting piece I saw.
The people, who call themselves “moderate Democrats” still feel “pride” (due to white guilty over having more money than the rest of us) about voting for Obama. Yet at the same time, they recognize that they were duped. How can dupes still feel pride in being manipulated and used? Cause that’s what they exist for. That’s what their identity requires to survive.
Greetings:
1) I would hope that this is a demonstration of the “who would you rather have in your foxhole (fighting position?)” effect. Punks don’t fly jets.
2) Another thing I found illustrative in President Obama’s speech was his reference to an upcoming military pay raise. Just soooo Chicago; go along with what I want and there’s a little something in it for you.

11B40, I hope the soldiers’ responses were more of the same: silence, grimaces, and frowns.
And behind every one of those quiet faces, the thought: “You SOB, what do you take me for, a whore? You can toss a few twenties on my dresser if you want, but I’m no whore… I’m a soldier.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s pointless to try to explain to Liberal/Progressives the meaning of transcendent values such as honor, integrity, codes of conduct, self-sacrifice etc. Anything that doesn’t directly apply to they, themselves and their immediate wants does not register.
You might as well try explaining colors to the color blind.

The problem is that Cramer sees no relationship between “every part of Obama’s agenda” and the economic mess he deplores. Likewise other Dems who still favor Obama and his policies – even when they see the resulting financial disaster, they don’t seem to comprehend that it’s the result of Democrat policies and practices. 1 + 1 = 6 for them.
Cramer sounds like he’s heartbroken because he’s been had. Cry me a river. Another Liberal mugged by reality.
But Danny –
He _hasn’t_ been had. He agrees with Obama’s agenda…all of it. He _says_ so. The problem is that he’s been had by what he believes in – but he doesn’t see that – he thinks it’s Obama. It isn’t Obama – it’s the belief system. And _that_ he _doesn’t_ see.
I totally agree with you, Suek. That’s why people like him can KMA. I have nothing but contempt for them. They are the enablers.
