Curse all these distractions!

Doesn’t the rest of the world realize that one in four American babies are dying of starvation, lack of medical care, and insufficient exposure to Public TV? *That’s* what needs to be fixed, not some minor tribal conflicts overseas.

Learn from Winston Churchill? He could even learn from NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN.

Despite his idiotic appeasement policy, Chamberlain did at least put in place a hedge, by supporting significant expansion in Britain’s military forces…including production of the Spitfire & Hurricane fighters and the deployment of the radar/communications-based air defense systems. I don’t see Obama doing anything of the kind.

Not to worry folks, as the news from South Asia gets better and better, with the Taliban on the verge of toppling Pakistan and getting ahold of nuclear weapons, Obama can simply send them his good wishes or, better yet, simply vote “present”.

Oh Book! You are such a joker. Obama learn from anyone, especially a dead, white fat guy? What was Churchill’s approval ratings? How big of a crowd did he draw in Berlin? Oh, they didn’t love him in Berlin? Nope, small time guy.

Don’t you get it? He doesn’t need to learn from Churchill or anyone else on this earth; all is revealed to him through some process that we cannot understand.

Seriously, a great post. That indeed was their finest hour and they were so very fortunate to have exactly the right man to lead them through their travail.

It should be enlightening to compare the early lives and character of such men as Churchill and Truman to Obama. They were the antithesis of narcissism; they had both been around the block a few times and were considered light-weights in their earlier years, but rose to great stature when tested.

Thanks for posting that. Churchill, was, without doubt the most eloquent speaker and, for my money, the most important and influential leader of the 20th century. His closest analog in American politics was Lincoln. At any rate, Churchill’s acts described in this speech show in stark relief his sage leadership and, by comparison, Obama’s moral cowardice. This is a dangerous time – though it will be weathered in one fashion or another.

We might as well, unlike Churchill, sift through the past to see wh we can blame, where we can find fault.

For unlike Churchill who saw a future that made the past uninteresting, we have no future. We are doomed. There is no hope.
