BBC religious program to be headed by a Muslim

Right now, Church of England officials are upset that the BBC’s religious programming department (which is, apparently, a very important department) is going to be headed up by a practicing Muslim.  It is unclear whether he got the position as a result of political correctness or employment mandates, but there he is.  Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and we’ll have to wait and see whether Aaqil Ahmed carries out his new assignment with admirable even handedness — or not.  One wonders, though, what recourse there will be if the latter proves to be the case.

If he’s truly a “practicing Muslim,” I can understand the consternation. From what I know of Islam, a practicing Muslim is compelled to follow the Qu’ran to the letter, including the practice of shar’ia law and Jew hatred. The generic inferiority of women will also be a given, as well as the moral obligation to lie to infidels.

It would have been better if the Beeb had appointed an indifferent Muslim. That way they could have made their precious politically correct point with huzzahs from the media (which have no concept what Islam truly is), but still have protected those innocents who remain in Britain from the connivings and machinations of a true Muslim believer.

So, what you are saying, Charles, is that he is quite a suitable match for the BBC.

Stay tuned for the Sunday morning broadcasts.

Unless the man has a background in the Navy, I seriously doubt we’ll see any “admiral even-handedness” from him!

That’s too funny, Earl. I so often do that: instead of unintelligible typos, which the computer would catch and highlight, I simply type in other workable words. I’ll fix that.

I don’t think there _are_ any indifferent muslims. Either you are or you aren’t. If you aren’t, then you get condemned and unless you’re protected or in protected circumstances, killed because you’re an apostate.

“Right now, Church of England officials are upset…”

The Church of England is a bit late to the party. That’s what happens when you make nicey-nice with the enemy and ignore the fact that as the enemy, their smiles and glad-handing is merely a means of getting the castle gates opened so that they can enter and slay the occupants. Think Trojan Horse here.

There is suspicion that Prince Charles is a possible muslim, for heaven’s sake. Personally, I think Queen Elizabeth is holding on so that she can skip over Charles and make one of the grandson’s king when she lets go…

Oh, suek! From your lips to G-d’s ears!!

I’ve been wondering about (and hoping for) just such an eventuality….

Is William (he’s the heir, right?) someone who could handle it better than his ineffectual father? I do not pay attention to this stuff…..

  • suek

I don’t really pay much attention either, but some of the various reports about Charles over the years….what an airhead!

It _sounds_ to me that the one of the sons who went into the military might have some potential…although various things I’ve read do make me wonder any of them are worth much, and if the British Royalty might have reached the end. Not that they serve much purpose anyway…but still….

I don’t think it matters who is the next king in England.
Eventually, the Multicultural PC Police will be calling the capital Londonstan and the country Great Burkah. Big Ben will have to be torn down and a new clock will have to be installed to reflect Mecca time. University of Surrey will be renamed.. Surah al Quran and Westminster Abbey will also get a PC face lift and be renamed West-Madrashah (no abbey, just obey).

    Sadie,

In your scenario where Islamists take control of Great Britain (with “Islamists” I am using a word to refer to hard-liners, since the moderates are either being killed or are in fearful, cowed, submissive silence), I fear the result would not be merely renaming.

Remember what the Taliban did to Afghanistan when they took over. They spent a large amount of effort and time to erase all signs of former Afghan culture that did not directly relate to Allah. They bombed into rubble the huge carved stone statues that were revered. They attempted to wipe the very memory of non-Islamic Afghan culture out of existence. The same would happen to Great Britain. Big Ben – gone. Westminster Abbey – gone. Etc.

British history is so rich that it would take quite a while to complete the erasure. But they would. I could be wrong: The Hagia Sophia does in fact remain in Istanbul (Constantinople), though under a different name and purpose. Converted first to a mosque, it is now used as a museum. The most noteworthy British symbols would be perverted, perhaps, not destroyed.
