A couple of interesting polls at the Marin IJ

The Marin IJ is running two polls today, one concerning employing illegal immigrants and the other asking whether “most Marin residents are environmental posers.” As to the latter, with 375 votes cast, 82% of voters have answered that, yes, Marin residents are environmental posers. I was vote number 375 in that regard. It’s a good question, because it taps into the feel goodism that is the core of Al Gore’s Nobel Prize winning environmental theories. Like Al, we live in our big houses, drive our big cars, and consume like mad, but we are still careful tol put our kids into a panic about their future, dutifully sort our garbage, use recyclable shopping bags, and are sure to lecture everyone about the evils of climate change. If that’s not posing, I don’t know what is.

A great example of environmental posing is the “buy your food locally” movement. In reality, a bushel of corn may take far more water to produce in California than in Iowa–I’ve seen estimates of 400X more–and, hence, energy to pump the water. But Marin County types, I’m sure, feel very virtuous about buying local corn, without bothering to learn anything at all about agriculture, energy, or transportation.
Sort of off topic, but I just had to plant this somewhere! Super link!

There’s a “click here” button – be sure to “play” it…pretty amazing stuff!

As we have already proven, only the rich can afford to care about the environment. The poor do not.
And yet the Left would make all of us poor in order to enrich their own investment funds in the name of the “planet”. How like them.
I have to confess I detest these Green posers as much as I detest the Stepford Liberal Democrats and the milquetoast liberal Christians primarily of Protestant denominations who transmute the Blood of Christ into Milk of Magnesia to absolve their own complacent souls.
Since I’ve planted one economic link on this somewhat unrelated post, I might as well plant another one:

Oh well. This might even get interesting. Do they ever replay CSPAN?
