GOP tentatively begins marketing

Check out the brand new, lean, mean, modern looking GOP homepage.  The RNC’s new media director seems to understand what is needed.

Hmph. What they need is an easier way to comment, and to change the format so that you can post live links. Then they might get someone other than “D” to post something. I tried to make that suggestion, but got tired of waiting for the “comment” page to load. (about the live link, not about “D”)

I don’t like links that have to be copied and pasted, and I suspect that many are unused by others also for that reason. It does appear that some formats automatically publish html format as live links, and others don’t. And you don’t know which until you’ve posted them.

Above is assuming they want participation. Since I didn’t get to the comment page, I don’t know if they require registration etc. They probably do. Gotta collect those email addys, I’d bet!

Filters, authenticity, and motivation. Those are key to any open source analysis that requires raw data for “data mining purposes”.

Authenticity simply means what it says. You have to be what you say you are, you have to think what you say you think, and you what to believe what you say you believe. This is important in light of motivation.

There are many different kinds of motivation. Some are monetary, some are religious, others are secular ideological, and even others are purely emotional or self-esteem centered. The key to motivation is to motivate the people who can contribute to your effort, the ones with authenticity and a good reputation, while decreasing the motivation of the agent provocateurs, Democrat agents, saboteurs, and generally angry and griefing thugs.

This comes down to filters. Filter out the non-authentic, filter in the authentic. They don’t have to be right, they simply have to be saying what they think is true. This will improve your data analysis spread by magnitudes. Secondly, filters must filter out those with the wrong motivations. They cannot be motivated by ideological strife in order to infiltrate the Republican party, ala Democrats voting in the Republican primaries for McCain. They should be motivated by a genuine need for reform and for American success, not partisan conflict, neither for nor against Republicans.

All of these are handled through manipulating human nature. And if you do not understand human nature and why we do the things we do, you cannot separate the wheat from the chaff. These skills are even more critical now than they were back in the hay day of spy masters and barbarian kings given the power and reach of technology.
