Finally I see eye to eye with some Marxists ! The only thing wrong with the Marx Brothers’ movies is that they didn’t make enough of them. Note the quantity of cultural and geographical references in the song: from the Battle of Waterloo to Kankakee (Illinois) to mazurkas to Picasso. That is rather literate comedy.
CharlesMartel : the Tatooed lady is from northern Spain. Given the Spanish affinity for Gallego jokes , one would suspect that the tatooed lady is from Galicia, but no, she is from Gijón in Asturias.
The first Gallego joke from the link: A Gallego got sent to Colombia for Coca and came back with Pepsi. The Brits have Irish (Celtic) jokes, and the Spaniards have Gallego (Celtic ) jokes. Not just bagpipes ! (And the Irish have Kerryman jokes, which suggest a certain Senator.)
Let me guess…no one calls her Bubbe (Yiddish for grandmother).
On the bright side, she’s easy to spot in a crowd.
“who was born in 1937, is the most senior tattooed woman in the world”
Are there specifications to be a “tattooed woman”? She is the “most senior” of many tattooed women? so there are others? or is she the senior most tattooed woman?
Also…wonder where that Marx Brother’s film was shot…notice the “one armed bandits” on the right side? Vegas? or …where else were they legal?
