Your good news for the day *UPDATED*

And this good news comes from Pakistan, of all places.

Does it strike any of you as strange that, just as the rest of the world decides to become more economically conservative and take terrorism more seriously — because their Leftist economics and laissez faire attitude towards terrorism weren’t working — our “progressive” President, the most brilliant intellectual light in the world, decides to follow their old, failed paths?  Just asking….

UPDATE: I’m not sure what was wrong with that link, but I tried again, and we’ll hope it works.

    Hi Book,

It doesn’t amaze me. The EU is a bit ahead of the US, maybe 5-10 years on the rampant multiculturalism, eco-paganism, demise of religious morals, statist, nanny-state spectrum. We the USA have been the paternal “enabler” by defending them since WW II. Its easy to pay for elaborate social programs when you don’t have to devote half your tax base to defense – or policing the world. The EU is wising up to the fact that their six decade “sugar daddy” maybe has shallower pockets than thought.

The ideas of the left originated in Europe (Bentham, Hegel, Hume, Mill, Marx, Voltaire, …) and made their way to our shores early on in America’s history and have been agitating for center stage here since around 1900. To the leftist, it doesn’t matter that their ideas have a long history of abject failure since they ignore history (often rewriting it) and base their decisions on emotion. “Oh the poor fuzzy little polar bear”, “oh the poor warm planet”, “oh the poor fuzzy little jihadist”, and so on. Emotional arguments are often effective. If the voting base no longer has an education in history, critical thinking and a love of reading, emotional arguments like these sell like hotcakes.

Certainly, when the populous has had their pocket books hit hard, by unemployment and debt; and see their culture dissolving before their eyes, they start to wake up.

I believe Obama to be a fool. A fool that actually believes the leftist revisionist history worldview promulgated by the likes of Howard Zinn. I believe Obama bases his economic plans on failed socialist Keynesian principles similar to those used by FDR (which failed, but have painted by the revisionists as success). I believe Obama has a narcissistic, self-centered, messiah-complex personality disorder that will continue to worse over his term as his leftists policies rack up debt and failure like each other time they have been tried historically. I believe the sycophantic media will praise Obama the same way they praised FDR which led to his unconstitutional 4 terms as president.

So long as America kept things good in the world, Leftist utopian ideas sounded like a good luxury to have. Once reality hit and America starts letting things slip, the people of these “autonomous” countries start considering that it is time for adults to take charge once more.

Then again, under Leftist Presidents like Jimmy Carter, entire nations, prosperous nations like Rhodesia, went down in fire and flames.
