About that temperament thing

Americans were promised that Obama had a perfect temperate: cool, calm and collected at all times. And certainly, in every interview, he was cool, calm and collected. Could that be because every interview was a fawning love-fest? It’s easy to control your temper and keep your head when everything’s going your way. How about doing the same when the chips are down? Brit Hume suspects that Obama is having problems keeping his cool before, not a hostile audience, but an inquiring one:
A White House Press Corps that had been ridiculed for its allegedly fawning coverage was asking tough questions. And a president noted for his easy self-assurance was defensive and even testy at times. He insisted there was nothing new in his tough, and unmistakably new, language on Iran. He never did answer the question of whether the invitation still stands to Iranian diplomats to come to U.S. embassies around the world to celebrate the 4th of July.

What we are seeing is explosive gasses starting to be emitted as Obama’s narcissistic bubble is pricked. However, all this is so tame by comparison to what is surely to come as the pressure of circumstances grinds down upon him.
What will happen when unemployment continues its upward march (inevitable), international crises mount (fe, fi fo fum…they smell the blood of a squish), his poll number fall to GW Bush-like lows (a crushing blow to the self image of any panderer), and even the mass media cannot overlook anymore the damage that he is doing to the country? Somehow, I don’t believe that he is going to grow into the position – he has neither the self-awareness, nor the integrity, nor the maturity, nor the mental toughness needed for this job.
What I fear is that we will see seriously dangerous erratic behavior emerge and the target of his wrath will be within this country rather than without? That’s a scenario that should worry all of us.
