They are most illuminating. I suppose I want to think that our President had a reason for interjecting himself into what should have remained a local matter. One might think that, seeing his health care plans rotting away, he thought he could distract everyone with a different issue. But no. He does not think on his own. He defenately "shot from the hip". And he further demonstrated, as if we needed more proof, that he is not up to the job of POTUS. Not now. Not ever. And yes, he is a bigot of the worst color. The great edifice that is the State continues to work despite BO's incompetence. Basically by habit. The problem is when an outside event challenges the State. I remember that Gorbachev took note when Reagen fired the air traffic controllers, and realized that Reagen would do whatever he said he would do. Gorbachev did not challenge Reagen. What is striking is the fact there has been little real reporting. Once Crowley found out Gates was a Harvard professor, he called Harvard security, which were there observing the incident. Has any reporter tried to get independent verification of what Gates was calling Crowley? Meanwhile the president is attempting to turn this into a racial incident. I suspect everyone has a cop story, where we've felt the police officer has overused his authority. Hopefully, the grownup in us takes over and we realize the police have the power and we don't.
