Out of the mouths of babes — Obama version
Bookworm on Aug 12 2009 at 10:32 am | Filed under: Barack Obama
How’s this for a perfect piece of dialogue for our modern era?
Dad: Who knows which of our presidents is the only president born in Hawaii?
[Long silence]
Son: Obama?
Daughter: No, it wasn’t.
Son (10): Yes, it was.
Daughter (11): No. Obama was born in Africa. [At which point Mom turns to Dad and says, honestly, "I swear I never said a word."]
Son: He was not born in Africa. If he was, he couldn’t be president, right?
Daughter: Oh! Duh.

I imagine that when the flimsy mental walls of a liberal come crashing down after one too many encounters with reality, it’s much like when Janet Reno crashed Will Ferrell’s SNL party when she busted through the wall.
First, though, it’s important to find out which color Mr. Bookworm looks best in so that reality can wear a matching outfit.
OY…
Whether it’s Aloha or Kwa heri, it’s bye-bye to any sense of normalcy.
Book, what you need is some light beach reading material…this should do it.

PARIS – A Muslim woman garbed in a head-to-toe swimsuit — dubbed a “burquini” — may have opened a new chapter in France’s tussle between religious practices and its stern secular code.
Officials insisted Wednesday they banned the woman’s use of the Islam-friendly suit at a local pool because of France’s pool hygiene standards — not out of hostility to overtly Muslim garb.
Under the policy, swimmers are not allowed in pools with baggy clothing, including surfer-style shorts. Only figure-hugging suits are permitted.
Nonetheless the woman, a 35-year-old convert to Islam identified only as Carole, complained of religious discrimination after trying to go swimming in a “burquini,” a full-body swimsuit, in the town of Emerainville, southeast of Paris.
She was quoted as telling the daily Le Parisien newspaper that she had bought the burquini after deciding “it would allow me the pleasure of bathing without showing too much of myself, as Islam recommends.”
“For me this is nothing but segregation,” she said.
Gee…I thought Islam recommended no co-mingling among unmarried men and women.

You’ve mentioned this before. I can’t find it on youtube, however. You know she got the Feds to do a bit of data house cleaning?
Ymarsakar, I can’t find it either. Fond references to it and all that, but not the real thing.
Even though she was a death-dealing old crone, Janet still had a sense of humor. Hard to believe she would have agitated for the removal of one of the few clips that ever made her look human.
I’m always amazed by what kids learn at school.

Seek and ye shall find, via Google Video. I had never seen that before. Pretty funny. IMHO, Janet Reno would take it as a compliment, as it portrays her as an assertive, suffer no fools type of person. I loved how she trashed the press! If anyone would remove the vid from YouTube, methinks it would be the press, as they would not like a vid that put them in their places.
(The only way Obama would trash the press like that would be if the press stopped fawning over him and started acting like the press should- as a neutral purveyor of information. There is a hip-hop journalist, a graduate of some tony private schools, who got beaten up by some hip hoppers because his article was not sufficiently complimentary. The article wasn’t negative, it just wasn’t adulatory enough. I can imagine Obama getting into a hissy fit with a journalist who was not sufficiently adulatory.)
At which point Mom turns to Dad and says, honestly, “I swear I never said a word.”
That’s funny!
I do wonder if perhaps kids, like your daughter, are picking up on the fact that Obama does not self-identify as an American. Yes, yes, I know, he IS an American citizen. But, what I mean by self-identify is that he see himself as somehow or other “not your typical American.”
As one who has travelled and lived overseas quite a bit I do find it interesting that expatriate/overseas Americans, despite our differences (racial, age, geographic, or otherwise), always seem to find common ground (You’re from LA? Oh, I’ve been to San Francisco. Or, you’re from Maine; okay, I’m from New Jersey – when you are 10,000 miles away from home, Maine really is next door to New Jersey and LA is just a hop, skip, and a jump from San Francisco). Obama seems to try to find what is different – he has even said that he is “not the type of American that you are used to seeing” or something like that.
Perhaps, your daughter, hearing Obama say so often that he is not like others and that he has a Kenyan father just made the assumption that he was born in Africa?
I am not trying to call your daughter naive or anything. Kids often try to figure out the world by the bits and pieces they get from adults and often come to wrong conclusions (I know that I did; and often, as an adult, still do). Given how little information about Obama’s background and history that the Obama campaign and the news media gave to the public is it any wonder that kids (or even some adults) are confused?
Charles: I had the same thought about daughter picking up on his fundamental failure to identify with America.
Gringo:
Thank you very much for your research. I looked at the videos you tracked down but none of them had the scene I was referring to. I’m afraid I wasn’t as clear as I could have been in describing it.
Right after Dubyah took office, Ferrell was doing his Janet Reno imitation in the blue dress you see him wearing in the video. He’s doing his thing when, suddenly, the real Janet Reno, clad in the same blue dress, crashes through the studio wall and strides up to confront him about his cheesy imitation of her. I don’t know if Ferrell knew she was coming, because everybody—audience, cast members, viewers like me—had been reduced to helpless laughter.
I think I wasn’t clear that it wasn’t Ferrell who was doing the crashing and confronting. It was the real McCoy.
Which means that while there are videos of Ferrel, the real Janet Reno flicks have been excised. Hah
It’s not his fundamental failure, it’s his utter and complete failure.
Can’t excise my brain. I have a vivid memory of Janet Reno on SNL.
I tried doing a little detective work (follow the money) who owns Youtube (Google). Who owns Google, but it got to be like a minefield of endless paperwork as to private and major share holders. Since Reno, was a Clinton pick, I’d bet the trail ends at the DNC along with the clip from SNL.
Can’t excise my brain.
Ah, but you just have to wait. Wait until Obama’s Eugenicist Team discovers that lobotomies will increase quality of life issues for those suffering terminable illnesses or pain.
Son: He was not born in Africa. If he was, he couldn’t be president, right?
Slap him in irons and ship him off to the American History Deconstructed camp.
The horror of such use of weapons of mass destruction, colloquially named logic, can not be tolerated. He must be educated to assert his views as if it was always true, and never recognize when it is wrong.
The daughter seems to be needing the latter more than the son.
Obama’s Eugenicist Team (the wait is over) he performed group lobotomies. I saw the results, they were swooning like zombies, fainting in the aisles as he spoke, a blank stare upon their faces as they gazed unto their ‘leader’s face’ and that was just the media!
Even though she was a death-dealing old crone, Janet still had a sense of humor.
*Nods* Yeah, you got to watch out for those gun toting pro Death-Penalty wing nuts, Hammer.
You never know when they will use the goon squads of the government on private citizens. Fascists, I tell ya. BussshHittler Fascisssts evan.

An Obama-Coup (i.e., Obama Haiku)

Under setting sun.
NIce one, Danny.
I just had an epiphany on this theme.
Reagan was proud to be an American. He made Americans proud to be Americans too.
Obama is proud to be president. He makes Americans proud that they elected him president too.
He will fail because he doesn’t convey love of country and pride for country. He conveys love of self, pride for self, and an eagerness to make his transformative mark on the nation.
To build on what you said, Lulu11, with Reagan and Bush (1 and 2), you knew that they knew they were elected in charge of something much bigger than themselves. I never got that feeling with either Clinton or Obama.
It’s the same narcissism that leads Reid to go with the corrupt system and enrich himself, rather than do some actual work, create a business, give unemployed poor people a job, and make some wealth for everybody.
No, that’d take real work. Far easier to just go along with the flow and loot the system for all its worth. After all, like Soros said, if you don’t do it, somebody else just will. And why waste money on somebody else, eh?
Mayo Clinic on narcissistic personality disorder:
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. They believe that they’re superior to others and have little regard for other people’s feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
Lulu11:
‘failure’ has a psychiatric definition, when I think of Obama, which may end up being his Achilles Heal or ours. His need for adulation could strengthen or weaken his resolve to get “it” done.
Now combine the above with the below and we’ve got ourselves a diagnosis.
Mental Health Association of S.E. Pa.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
People with Antisocial Personality Disorder consistently disregard, or even violate, the rights of others. They tend to act out their conflicts and ignore normal rules of behavior and are deceitful and manipulative.
Frequently, they are also impulsive, irresponsible and callous, lie repeatedly and use an alias or con others. This disorder has also been called psychopathy, sociopathy or dissocial personality disorder.
Whewww…and we were concerned about a birth certificate.
Sadie, Book was one of the first to call Obama a sociopath.
Isn’t that great? ; )
Oh great, I just confirmed Book’s observation, which isn’t elevating my sense of well-being at all.
In that case what does it all say about Obama supporters?
In that case what does it all say about Obama supporters?
Same as the family members who told police that a suspected child molester wasn’t in their trailer. Afterwards at that home, they dug up the girl who had been buried (alive) with her cute stuffed animal.
I better stop before. The demon inside is rattling the chains, you see.
But that’s what it makes them. The enablers.
…and accomplices!
Sadie, we’ll get through and win, just like with Iraq. Not because we want to. Not because we want strawberry and cream over vanilla ice, but because we have no other choice. It’s do or die time. And that’s no metaphorical joke any more.
Remember how the Left said we can’t win in Iraq? Obviously they don’t want us getting used to Victory. It would inconvenience them, such as at these townhalls.
