    But it was written for Fred! I find Sinatra’s version a bit too maudlin. As for Ella, she owns everything she ever sang. That woman tops my list of all singers, male or female.

    It’s supPOSED to be if not maudlin, oh, I dunno, easy and sad?

    You are absolutely right about Ella. That Lady could pack more notes into one note than anyone ever had or will, and make it sound effortless, and never gimmicky. Ain’t just any broad can sing a guys gin song, you know.
