The story to watch this morning, folks, is the developing one about the NEA *UPDATED*

Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government started it this morning with a post describing the now infamous NEA conference call that used tax payer funds to get NEA supported artists to prepare Obama propaganda.

That is not the end of the story.  To give you background, the Media Mythbusters wiki has a whole page set up regarding the NEA kerfuffle.  I can guarantee you that, if you watch this page, it will grow.

Michelle Malkin has more details about this breaking scandal, as well as a request to you, the public, for help.

Lastly, keep an eye on Lucianne.

Folks, I have it on very good authority that you will want to watch this story as it develops.  It doesn’t have the sex and crime aspects that forced the media at least to blink on the ACORN story, but reputable scuttlebutt is that something is going on here.  I don’t know what, but something.  Something significant.

As for me, I’ll try to keep this story updated as the day goes by, but I’m peripheral, and can mostly serve as a road map to the real locations.

UPDATE:  And here it is, from Big Hollywood:

Should the National Endowment for the Arts encourage artists to create art on issues being vehemently debated nationally?

That is the question that I set out to discuss a little over three weeks ago when I wrote an article on Big Hollywood entitled The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion?

The question still requires debate but the facts do not.

The NEA and the White House did encourage a handpicked, pro-Obama arts group to address politically controversial issues under contentious national debate. That fact is irrefutable.

Read the rest here — it’s long, but everything is worth considering, because it represents a sea change in administration use of public funds.  This the first time every that an administration has used your tax dollars to advance a partisan agenda, through an ostensibly non-partisan, government funded forum.  This makes it different from something like PBS and NPR.  Although both are wildly left in their politics, that Leftism arises from the biases of the employees themselves.  What we have with this NEA scandal is something entirely new:  the government itself directing the Leftism of a publicly funded organization.

For more information and analysis, check out Big Hollywood’s sister site, Big Government, which has extensive blogging analysis on the implications of the NEA conference call.

UPDATE II:  James Taranto has an admirably neat summary of the scandal.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully there’s real stuff there and all this prep they’re doing isn’t overselling it – it would be a shame to waste the ACORN momentum.

What is being exposed here is the meat and guts of the Democrat propaganda machine, something which has been in operation for centuries.

Most people wouldn’t know good propaganda from bad, as it is not something they were required to know nor was it particularly useful to their self-chosen fields of career. That would make sense, of course, but their lives, however it ended up, is still vulnerable to the political machinations and manipulations of those who do make it their business to utilize propaganda well.

For people that haven’t studied this in advance to anticipate things, they are learning it with a more immediate sense from the undercover work of HG and her partner in truth. They are surprised and shocked at the more salacious details, of course, but that wouldn’t normally mean anything in propaganda. Propaganda is either effective or ineffective, and as such it wouldn’t care whether the goal required consorting with child prostitution or anything else for that matter. Efficiency and effectiveness are the dogma and doctrine here for the art of propaganda, not religious morality or civil society restraints.

For a people as well civilized as Americans, which still contains more than a tad bit of frontier independence, there are elements to the Democrat’s unethical machine politics that are simply unacceptable given the reality to which most Americans are taught under. Most Americans are taught to respect the rule of law, the rules of society, and to tread lightly on other people’s prerogatives or rights.

Well, whether acceptable or not, people had best learn it soon. Their very livelihood depends upon it. No more can individuals claim innocence or ignorance on this matter, nor disinterest. No more can they sit on their moral high horse, impaled on a fence strip, like Ozzie, and tell the rest of us that Dems and Repubs are the same, that both rig elections. It’s time for the reality to be shown. The reality I’ve known, studied, and suspected in equal parts, but lacked the power to crush.

Whatever means are available, Alinsky or Constitution, Founding Father or fundamentalist, should be utilized to further the ultimate end goal.

The total termination of slave and class politics in this nation.

The author of the Audacity of Hope was not about reclaiming American, but a plan to pilfer its resources and leave us Barren of Hope.

The NEA artiste’s will now gather up their palettes and brushes. I can almost envision their finished product….ACORN on a cross, SEIU on a cross, Crap & Trade on another, Health care reform..and in lieu of the Romans taunting the afflicted, it will be the Republicans, etc. The masses will be called lunatics (heretics are just too obvious). PBS can turn it all into a mini series with selected segments being aired and discussed on NPR.

This is what happens when you run the White House like a brothel – everybody gets into the act and behaves like a whore.
