Only the guns and the cultural insanity make me take this seriously

Yes, they have guns, and yes, they come from an apocalyptic culture that believes it would be a good thing to see the world enveloped in flames.  But otherwise, these Iranian soldiers look pretty damn silly:

Of course, it’s probably good camo if you’re trying to infiltrate this:

Otherwise, it’s hard to see the disguise’s utility.

    They look like ghillie suits.

It isn’t designed to infiltrate communities. Rather, it is designed to break up the outline of the human body to prevent shape recognition in wilderness, forests, and various other locales where snipers may be holed up.

Why they are using it in a parade, I have no idea. Given the nature of the ghillie suit, it’s designed more for crawling than for upright movement.

Are not snipers also usually assigned a few to a unit, rather than as their own unit? The paraders are also carrying standard infantry weapons instead of sniper rifles — which makes sense due to the difference in expense and accuracy. Given the high effectiveness of snipers, it makes sense for the regime to brag about having many, but Bookworm is right: they do look silly.

I do understand the whole point of ghillie suits. It was just much more fun to ridicule how silly they look marching down the street.

    You’re all over-analyzing this! They’re Wookies.

It’s pretty obvious what happened to me. For one thing, those aren’t suits, those are skins. Shredded skins.

This is a group of Iranian soldiers that ran into Ymarsakar.

Iran is probably using them much as the Fedayeen was utilized in Iraq. As guerrilla ambushers that hide amongst scrubs or trees or civilian shields when faced against foreign threats, and as shock troops carrying normal assault loadouts against internal threats.

Charles, no, they’re still upright and walking. That kind of subtlety of incision and precision would belong to Mo, as in Michelle Obama.

Unless Iran has some dark swamps or wooded areas, the color of those suits would also be rather out of contrast.

It’s often far better to attach local material to the suit, rather than to use the suit itself, since it’s hard to make a suit for all environments. Until they come up with active camo at least.

They were probably captured on Nal Hudda when the crackdown on counter-revolutionary dissidents occurred a few weeks ago.

    LOL!

I bow in accession to the superior judgment of the membership.
